Over 130 competitors from 22 countries, almost 500 really exciting duels for right and left hand, participation of the world Armwrestling lead, two days of semi-finals, cup-finals and open class rivalry broadcast on N Sport television, rebroadcast on Bulgarian, Ukraine, Russian, Romanian and American Television, a great number of fans and lovers of armwrestling, professional organization, power, adrenaline and unusual sports emotions, 4 medals and a lot of good places just behind the podium of Polish competitors – that is how we can shortly describe this year’s jubilee, international tournament - Złoty Tur Cup – 7th Professional World Cup Nemiroff World Cup 2009 which took place on the 6th and 7th of November in Olympic Sunrise Casino in u Hilton Hotel in Warsaw.

Annual Professional Armwrestling World Cup which was organized in Gdynia at the beginning and for a few years takes place in Warsaw is probably the largest armwrestling event for professionals. As here there are no accidental competitors. The starting sportsmen are at least the champions of their countries. The majority of the participants are the European or World Champions and medallists of other international tournaments of this rank. Among them there are also best Polish competitors, selected on the basis of their achievements on national and international field. For many competitors starts at annual Nemiroff World Cup is a great happening. Some of the competitors give up starting at European or World Championships in order to prepare and start at the one of the kind international tournament. So the level of the tournaments is exceptionally high. And this year’s was extream.

Of course a lot can be said about each duel. However names of two competitors: the defender of last year’s title of the strongest man of 2008 for left hand, extremely well built were Denis Cyplenkov from Russia and the strongest professional of the same year for right hand, legendary  John Brzenk from the USA.on everyone’s lips from the very beginning.

Although the final result of this year’s Nemiroff World Cup 2009 was the same as last year – John was the best of the best of right hand open category, whereas Denis of the left hand their fights were really impressive and exciting for all of the supporters, the ones gathered in the hall as well as the ones in front of the TV-sets.

This year’s Nemiroff World Cup gathered many titled armwrestlers as usual. Watching the real champions during their fights is a real pleasure for all the supporters. However most of the medal places were occupied by the competitors from the East like: Roman Tsineliani (the winner of 70 kg class left and right hand), Alexander Bulenkov from Russia and Artem Taynov from Ukraine (the winners of up to 78 kg class – Alexander for left, Artem for right hand), Denis Cyplenkov from Russia (the winner of + 95 kg class left and right), Andrey Pushkar from Ukraine (silver medalist of right and left hand +95 kg class) and others, but there were also quite many competitors from other countries than the ones from the East standing on the podium such as: John Brzenk from the USA (gold for left and right hand of up to 95 kg class), Ion Oncesku from Romania (silver medallist of right hand of up to 95 kg class) and others. Every competitor showed the Warsaw audience a high level of Armwrestling. The level that can rarely be seen be so called regular guy. Thanks to Nemiroff World Cup 2009 we – the supporters and lovers of armwrestling could watch their skill live.

Here the winner of up to 86kg class for left and right hand - Rustam Babayev from Ukraine deserves attention. Rustam not only easily won his weight class but also can include the silver medal of Open class for right hand his sports success at Nemiroff World Cup. His final duel with a bit heavier (the starts weight of the American is 95kg) legendary John Brzenk will stay on our minds for long – long, stiff and tug-of-war fight. by a hair's breadth and not the American but a very talented Ukrainian competitor would have gained the title of the strongest professional for right hand of 2009. For many of the observers the elimination fight and the final one of these competitors was the fight of the evening and will for sure secure its place in the history of Professional World Cup. Both competitors showed us the discipline on the highest sports level. That is what we would like to thank them and other competitors for.
