Armpower: What is Nemiroff World Cup tournament for you?
Mariusz Grochowski: World Cup as the name says itself is a tournament of a world’s format and to participate something like this is not only a pleasure but also a great honor and an opportunity to start with the best. Therefore, for me it is the most important tournament I take part in for a few years.

Armpower: Is this your first start at this event? If not what were your previous successes? Is this a distinction for you?
Mariusz Grochowski: This will be my fourth start in the Cup and so far the best place I won was the fourth place for the right hand, probably in 2007 or 2008. It is of course a distinction as many competitors would want to start in this tournament but they are too weak, so I feel honored.

Armpower: How do you perceive yourself in the rivalry with the world’s best? Do you think you can manage to get on the podium in your weight class?
Mariusz Grochowski: Every year, I gain more experience in this discipline and only world-class competitors can I teach me more.

I train hard to not only stand on the podium but also win my class This is the World Cup and the ones to start are the world’s best competitors, so everyone is a favorite here. My hand is stronger  so I feel better on the right, but most players are right handed so everything may happen.

Armpower: Do you follow any special preparation training? How do you train?
Mariusz Grochowski: For me, the time of preparations for Nemiroff World Cup began in June. I train four times a week, I focus on my weak points that arise during armwrestling. Because of running the club I have several sparring partners.

Armpower: Any special diet? Supplementation?
Mariusz Grochowski: I am not on any diet.

Armpower: Who do you think will win the left and right hand rivalries in the open classy, and why?
Mariusz Grochowski: For several years the right hand class was won by experienced John Brzenk, and this year I bet on him. As far the left hand is concerned I feel there would be a surprise and someone less known would win.

Armpower: Does anyone from the Polish team has more chances for a gold medal and why?
Mariusz Grochowski: Every year we win medals at this event, and certainly this time we should see even a few guys on the podium. I think that the ones to have chances for medals are the guys from the TYTAN club because I contact with them every day and see how hard they train.

Armpower: What can you tell Polish fans to encourage them to come and see the Polish and international competitors on the 5th and 6th November at Nemiroff World Cup?
Mariusz Grochowski: Every year this tournament is getting better organized, so I can safely say that this is the best competitions to take place in the world. Rally emotional fights and being kept in suspense who would win, very spectacular duels. You simply have to be there to feel the atmosphere, which prevails there. And besides there, we will not be able to see so many great competitors at one go anywhere else. This tournament is simply unique.
