I was surprised by the level of referees. I cannot understand why, during the referee’s grip, he was closing my fingers. Instead of closing the fingers around the opponent’s hand, the referee pushed the fingers towards the inside of the hand. I’ve never seen that, and I’ve been wrestling for a long time. I said to my opponent then: you are going to win. I knew I couldn’t wrestle this way.

During another fight, the referee told me to first put my elbow on the pad and then grip the opponent’s hand, when I’m used to the reverse. It meant I had to adapt to my opponent’s elbow and hand placement. Why me, and not the opponent? Why couldn’t we grip first, and then set our elbows down?

Besides those drawbacks, the Nemiroff is still great, the number one event in the world.
