What was the year 2013 like for armwrestlers? # Armwrestling # Armpower.net

Alena Miromanova and Roman Mantika tell us about the year 2013 and their plans for the next year. ()

Alena Miromanova, winner of the European and World Championship and silver medalist at Nemiroff World Cup, has proven herself totally this year and believes that it was the most productive year in her athletic career: «I did a great job on my moral and physical education, and achieved all that I had planned for this year!»

Alena is 20 years old, so she can still perform in two age categories: junior 21 and senior.

«In 2013 I won the European Championship and Worlds in junior 21and climbed to the second and third step of the podium in senior, respectively. Just like last year, I took part in Nemiroff World Cup 2013, where I had a success and took second place. This tournament for me is the most significant event of the year, because only there you can see great fights of professional armwrestlers. These competitions have always been and will be different for their high level of organization and sports.

This September I was awarded the title of «Master of Sports of Russia international class»,says Alena.

Alena also does athletics: «Recently I took part in the Open Championship of the Irkutsk region. After recovering from a foot injury, I won the triple jump and jumped at 30 cm less from the standard Master of Sports of Russia, thus set the record for my country (Buryatia). For high sports achievements I was recognized as the «Best Athlete of Ulan-Ude in 2013».

Alena has a lot of plans for 2014: «I set a lot of goals, the first of which is to make a standard of Master of Sports in athletics. With a high spirit I will start to prepare for the Russian Athletics Championships; and to armwrestling championships; Europe and Worlds, international tournaments Nemiroff World Cup and A- 1 Russian Open. For the next year I wish you all luck, strong ligaments and iron hook! And remember: there are no boundaries!»

Debutant of World Championship, silver medalist Roman Mantika is also pleased with his results in 2013: «This year I did a lot of work on myself, I had significant victories, but there were losses, due to which I got an irreplaceable experience. Speaking about Ukrainian championship among juniors in the 75 kg category, I easily got golden medals»,says Roman.

Unlike Alena, Roman believes that the most significant event was Nemiroff World Cup: «This year many events happened: unexpected results of drug control and astonishing victories. In my opinion, the most spectacular event was the Nemiroff World Cup, which everyone was amazed by, thanks to the organizational skills of Igor Mazurenko and his team. We saw a lot of exciting fights. In addition, my dream has come trueI represented Ukrainian team at the world championships. I brought the silver medal, and for me it was a historical result».

In future the armwrestler wants to see good refereeing, more spectacular fights and armwrestling at the Olympics in 2020.
