The opening ceremony of the 24^th European Championships is already in the past. This year the event has been organized by the Azerbaijan Armwrestling Federation.

550 sportspeople have entered into the competition, from different weight categories and age groups.

Many distinguished guests took part in the ceremonies – the former vice-minister of sports, Ismail Ismailov, vice-president of National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseinzade, the Azerbaijan Armwrestling Federation president Dzhasarat Akhmedov, and the EAF president Assen Hadjitorov.

The sportsmen had a moment of silence in honor of the miners perished in the Turkish catastrophy.
