The story of a bodybuilder turned armwrestler. ()

The topic of this article is Grzegorz Lukashevski – former bodybuilder, currently interested in armwrestling. After turning thirty, he's decided to transfer from bodybuilding to armwrestling. He entered his first ever competition in this sport in april 2014.

Before the Orlando competition, I never stood at an armwrestling table – says Grzegorz. - The day before the comp, Artem Taranenko showed me some basic moves, but of course that was too little to win the comp, although I have won one fight. And I was very happy with that. But “the best” was yet to come. My arms hurt for five weeks after that tournament. But despite that, I knew I wanted to be in this sport!

Armwrestling has entered Grzegorz's life suddenly and is there to stay. But he hasn't quit bodybuilding entirely. He still works out to keep in shape and retain his bodily form. He sacrifices very little time to specific armwrestling exercises.

You need lots of time to learn technique and strenghten your tendons and ligaments – says Grzegorz.

- I went to some practises in Orlando, because in Miami armwrestling is not very developped. Nowadays I focus my training on armwrestling, I've recently bought a table. I train long and hard, I don't neglect the basic exercises, because I know they are very important for the production of hormones. In my opinion, the basics are very important in the career of an armwrestler.

Grzegorz is making steady progress in his transition. The important thing is dedication and realism, not wishful thinking.

In October this year I went to my second ever armwrestling comp – says Grzegorz. I cut a lot of weight for that event – I went down to 90 kg. I fought more confidently that half a year before that, but I still won only one fight. I realize I may not be super champion material, but I won't give up.

What are our new fighter's plans for the future? What place will bodybuilding have in his life? What are his tips for other bodybuilders who wish to transfer into armwrestling? Read on in the next part of this article on www.armpower.net
