On Sunday the 21st of February this year the former armwrestler Alexey Voevoda from Russia at Winter Olympic Games - Vancouver 2010 won his second Olympic medal at bobsleighs. This time the Russian stood on the brown Olympic podium in bobsleigh two (at Winter Olympics in Torino 2006 Alexy won the silver Olympic medal at bobsleigh four).

Alexey Voevoda (dispersing) and Alexsand Zubkov (pilot) with the lost of 0,73 seconds to the first position secured the brown olympic medal for them (1st position – first German team: Andre Lange and Kelvin Kuske, 2nd position - second German team: Thomas Florschuetz i Richard Adjei), and during the broadcast on EUROSPORT it was many times emphasized that Alexey Voevoda derives from armwrestling circle and he repeatedly visited tournaments organized in Poland.

The final decision if Alexey Voevoda would start at bobsleigh four hasn’t been made yet. The decision will be made today or tomorrow at the latest.

The result of the phone conversation with Kote Razmadze – the trainer of Alexey is that:

“It was the maximum result they could achieve. Admittedly on the run-up Alexey Voevoda was faster than his German competitors, but unfortunately before the start of the Olympics it was widely known that the Russian bobsleigh team has problems with skates and their technique are not perfect. Under such circumstances fighting with the gold olympic medalist - Andre Lange from Germany was impossible”.

“Luckily for the Russian team (and unluckily for Canadian two) Canadian bobsleigh fell out of the track and at the same time increased Russian medal chances. After the first ride Voevoda and Zubkov were 5th. During the second ride the Canadian crew overturned unluckily which brought the Russian competitors closer to the medal zone. Although after two rides the difference between 3rd and 4th positions was really tiny, finally the couple close to my heart: Alexsand Zubkov i Alexey Voevoda ranked 3rd” continued Kote Razmadze.

The redaction of armpower congratulates the Russian competitor on such spectacular successes.
