After the 11th Olympic Picnic # Armwrestling # Armpower.net

On the 12th of June 2010 within the framework of the 11th Olympic Picnic in Warsaw (Kępa Potocka Park by the Olympic Centre – Warsaw Żoliborz) the Olympic Picnic Open Armwrestling Championships took place for the 4th time.

The annual Olympic Picnic is one of the biggest capital sports-recreation events, which has already secured its place in the memory of inhabitants of Warsaw and visitors. This time, form hosts approximation (the Polish Olympic Committee) results in over 30.000 people crossed through the area situated between Wisłostrada and Gwiaździsta Street that day. There is no point to be surprise with such an attendance as it was the unique occasion to meet well know Polish sportsmen, Olympic medalists, participants of Olympics in total almost 150 greatest Polish sports masters, also armwrestlers. The special armwrestling guests were multiple Polish Champions and the winners of many awards at the European and international tournaments: Mariusz Grochowski from Jaworzno, Dariusz Muszczak from Myszkowów and Tomasz Szewczyk from Tomaszowów Mazowiecki. Armwrestling fans who wanted to try themselves In a professional tournaments had the possibility to fight with the champions of our discipline themselves for the whole day.

From afternoon to late evening all the participants of the picnic had the possibility to try themselves in various sports departments. As always armwrestling department was very popular.

Apart from the leitmotiv “Try yourself with a Champion” it was also possible to take part in a professional armwrestling competition. Over 40 competitors from the whole country, therein many armwrestling starts of the Polish armwrestling stage applied for the start to compete for right hand in junior and senior classes (women and men). As usually the organizers prepared mini tournaments for the youngest group of participants (children: Open in a form of fun).

A nice surprise was the appearance of the well known Polish competitor - Zbigniew Bielicki from Wołomin. Finally in up to 95kg class Zbyszek recognized the superiority of another well known competitor - Wiesław Rzanny form Wolsztyn, who as usually came here in a very good sports form. By way of digression, is Zbyszek coming back to our sport? Also the hosts - Mariusz Podgórski from Warsaw and Kamil Pachla from Nisk deserve more attention. However finally in up to 78kg class Mariusz Podgórski won the gold medal. Kamil hand to be satisfied with the second place on the podium.

The medalists of particular weight classes got statues, diplomas and material awards founded by lotto – Polish Olympic Movement General Sponsor, Olympic Movement Sponsors: PKO Polish Banki, Polish Post, Beer Company (with brand "Tyskie"), PKN Orlen, Polish Telecommunication and TAURON Polish and POC Partners: 4F Sport Performance, . F. Chopina Airport in Warsaw and Carolina Medical Center, and Sponsors of the 11th Olympic Picnic: VISA Europe, Coca Cola Poland with Powerade brand, ACER, McDonald's and Garnier.
