The brusher of the Russian bobsleigh team  Alexei Voevoda, who starts with Alexander Zubkov, declared readiness to start and expressed his views on the development of bobsleighs on the 19th February in doubles at the World Championships in Königssee.

- Why didn't you start in fourth at the European Championships? 

- The reason was that Alexander appeared not in the start bobsleigh and a chance to fight with the Germans as equals were small. Now the Olympic Wallner eventually to returned to us. And after our start in the double in Koenigsee we will have a week of "traveling along" the bobsleigh repaired in Austria. I could have stood up to the four as the last brusher, although such a transition is very difficult. Now I'm not sure now if after starts in doubles I will still be able to pick up the four perfectly. I'll know when I cross s this tour a few time.

Four is brushed by three men, so start it is less than the double. It consists of three phases: pushing, running and jumping in. If you "fail" one element - do not expect a high score. Only with a good start, you can demonstrate good acceleration and high output speed. In Vancouver, in contrast to some brushers who ran too far, we have used a shorter run down. I had a little shorter time at the start of two, but our output speed was high. The brusher can create wind resistance and slow down the bobsleigh, can also fly up and kick the pilot's seat, giving the bobsleigh additional dynamics on the start. And evaluated is not the start but the finish. Even if the start was bad and the team comes firt to the finish line, it means that I did my work well. Recently  at the stage in Eagles I hit the Zubkov's chair so strong that, my right leg slipped under him and I ripped off the leg to meat. 

 - Which phase is your weak point? 

- I have no weaknesses. I have good coordination, so I can be both at the right and left, but my emploi - brusher. 

- Do you think the club system is the raison d'être in the Russian bobsleighs? 

- Yes it is. Not only in bobsleigh. National sport federation system, in my opinion, has ended a long time a go. Because managers often involve people who are just interested to the teams. The club has a sponsor, which in our case, invites the pilot and the pilot selects the brusher. And what we choose ourselves,  we'll of course defend it and try to ensure maximum results. Finding sponsors for bobsleigh clubs is not a problem. It is interesting, as it is an extreme sport. Our new president said: guys, work on the sport quietly, and I'll find sponsors.
