Andrey Pushkar: A long road to the championship belt # Armwrestling # Armpower.net

Andrey Pushkar have been trying to reach a world chamipon title more than a year, and it’s hard to count how many belts he lost. ()

"The story with these belts began in 2004 in the Crimea, Sudak. I fought for the title of Intercontinental Champion with Taras Ivakin. At the European Championship, I was injured in a fight with Alexey Voevoda before it. But the fight with Taras had already been planned, and I could not refuse. I lost with a score of 2:1. First belt passed by".

Then Andrey struggled with Travis Bagent, John Brzenk, Denis Tsyplenkov, Michael Todd, Devon Larratt, but he could not win the trophy.

"I won the World Cup for 7 times, 14 times I became the world champion. And this belt is my first serious award among professionals”.

Readers’ opinion about the fight between Pushkar and Trubin was really shared. Most of the audience believed that Andrey would be at the Vendetta not in such shape, which even was at Zloty Tur. What happened there, at Złoty Tur 2015?

"In the summer and early fall I was doing repairs in the new gym, then it all had to be put on its feet – employees, customers. So I devote more time to business, and less to training. Moreover, I knew that Denis Tsyplenkov will not come to the World Cup, and I have not seen other competitors. I was not in my peak form. Plus Dmitry Trubin really got stronger, I underestimated him a bit. I was not in a good shape as it needed to be and as a result, I almost lost".

Spectators said that fouls helped Andrey to win Złoty Tour. But how to explain the fact that a month ago he injured his hand, and measurements on Mazurenko ARM device did not promise much...

"As for the test, I can say that any instruments, bells and rods would not help to measure a real force in the fight. Because the concept of "power" includes static, dynamic, explosive power in different positions, psychology and tactics. To compete you need to be able to make a good shape, both physically and mentally.

Maybe in power me, Dmitry, Denis Tsyplenkov are about the same, but during the fight, all depends on our possibility to impose our struggle as we come to the competition. It is important to be able to stand all six rounds, as opposed to one or two matches at the World Cup.

As for me, it’s impossible to say that if someone’s power rate is higher, so he certainly will win. We have seen how Denis Tsyplenkov raises huge weight on the biceps, but at the same time in the fight with Michael Todd, they looked equally".

To understand how difficult it was to Andrey to fight with Dmitry Trubin, we need to know what role the very first match played.

"Generally speaking, the most important for me was to mobilize tune. The flight was exhausting, I had to drink gallons of coffee and energy drinks after it. The hardest was to wake up. After the first fight I realized that I am stronger stronger. In the position for which I suffered the most - at the pillow - I felt comfortable, and pinned Dima with a reserve force. And then I went on the thumb: why I need to change something if all goes good".

But in the penultimate fight he decided to compete in the hook:

"Actually, I wanted to fight in the hook from the beginning, but Dima pulled strongly, and I felt that if I go into the hook, then I’ll lose my wrist. I had to fight with top-roll. And in the fourth fight, I realized that the case goes to a hook. During the fight, when almost won, I felt discomfort in the right side of the chest. Probably it was microbreakage. I didn’t want to fight anymore but I felt that my biceps had enough strength to hold Dima, so I pressed him to the pad again".

Injured Andrey controlled the match, but the latter decided not to fight for not to aggravate the injury.
