Ivan Matiushenko on Armfight #43 >>>

Ivan Matiushenko on Armfight #43 # Armwrestling # Armpower.net

The armwrestler tells us about his future plans and prognoses for the upcoming Vendetta in Vegas. ()

In July our European fighters will face Americans at the Vendetta. Will you be watching those fights?

Of course. I take interest in everything that happens in the world of armwrestling.

You are an experienced fighter. How do you think, what outcome can be expected from Prudnyk vs Bresnan? Who will win? What problems could Bresnan cause for Prudnyk?

I think Evgenyi wasn’t fully regenerated at the Europeans, he had no time for preparations. It might be a matter of overworked ligaments. He had a tough sparring with Gennadyi Kvikvinia. Add to that tough fights with Spartak Zoloev, and you’ll need a lot of rest. Tim Bresnan, as far as I know, is doing some serious preparations for this fight. If Evgenyi doesn’t manage to regenerate, then Bresnan has a large chance to win. If Evgenyi was in better shape, I would bet on him, but not this time.

An equally interesting fight will be Andrey Pushkar and Richard Lupkes. The last time Andrey went across the ocean, he couldn’t beat Devon Larratt. What will happen this time?

I think Andrey will win, Lupkes has been out of shape for a long time. But everything can happen with Americans. They know how to prepare for armfights.

The question is – has Lupkes had time to prepare?

At the Europeans, you have fought with left arm only, why was that? Is your right arm injured?

Yeah, I have been struggling with an injury for three years now. Regular attacks from Krasimir (2013), Hadji (2014) or Normunds (2014) have cost me months of breaks in preparations, so I’ve decided not to rick my health with Kraisimir and let my arm regenerate a little more.

In the event calendar for this year there are three big events yet to come: A1, WC’s and Nemiroff’s. Which events do you plan to start in? And which arm will you be fighting with?

I want to start in all three. In A1 I will fight with left, in WC’s in both (if possible), and as for Nemiroff – I will decide after the WC’s.

Which competition is the most important for you? For which are you preparing the most?

I prefer the “amateurs”, with doping control: Russia, Europe and Worlds. I cant’s start in pro from amateur levels.

How are your preparations going?

I have a micro-cycle of 4 workouts now, including light sparrings. Everything has been going as planned up until now, progress is visible.

Good luck at the tournament!

Thanks!
