Jan Żółciński: “Next year I’ll get a medal!” ()

Immediately after the competition we caught our “heavy” competitor, who this year entered the Polish elite of armwrestlers. After the first day Jan Żółciński was 7th on the left hand in the +95 kg class. Jan was outstripped by the masters: Pushkar, “Krasi”, Sergiy Tokarev, Murat Kariev, Italian Bartolato and a very dangerous competitor from Belarus Yankouski. But among the defeated appeared strong names: Veteran Semerenko, a powerful competitor from South Africa, Keith Van Zyl, his countryman who’s going up this year - Terence Opperman, and Sharagovich and Smirnov. On the right it was a bit worse ...
Jan, why didn’t you fight in the open class left hand?
Jan Żółciński: Well ... they took "Sem", who was behind me in the ranking. I have some regrets about it.
You know, maybe, "Sem" was promoted for his achievements ... You’ll get your chance. Tell me, how would you rate the competition?
Jan Żółciński: The organization was great.

I really liked the large screen behind the stage and big screens in the side halls, where you could see everything without any problems. Great atmosphere, great organization. Well, on Friday’s weighing there was a little confusion...
Well ... sorry about that ...
Jan Żółciński: You know, for me, this tournament is above all sports brand. Personally, it was my dream to compete at the Cup, so it’s hard for me to find any bad things except for weighing. I missed a bit bodybuilding shows and concerts (like last year in Ożarów), which I think are great for people waiting for the OPEN class.
I am very pleased with my performance in fights on the left hand. Generally speaking I came here not prepared well, I had a lot of things that hindered my workouts and that’s why I’m very happy with the results. But now I know that if I get a chance next year I’ll get a medal in the 95 + kg and I’ll do my best in training. I speak of course of the left hand because the fights on the right hand left a lot to be desired.

Thanks and start preparing now.
