The Russian team Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voyevoda won the World Championship gold, in doubles competition taking place in Koenigssee (southern Germany). 

The Russians were in the lead after the first day of the competition in third attempt they a bit strengthen their position. In the last race their rivals began to gain good results, but Zybkov did not take the risk and using a handicap calmly and confidently led to the victory. This success is the first in the history of Russian bobsleigh. Previously, Zubkov became the owner of a small World Cup in this discipline.

Silver was shared between two duets from Germany - with Thomas Florshyuttsem and Manuel Machatoy at the forefront.
