Last weekend, on the 10th June 2010 on a square by Gymnasium (Fabryczna 3 Street) on the initiative of Marcin Zawada from UKS Black Skorpion the next tournaments in Przyłęk took place. This time they were the 1st Open Lower Silesia Championships.

Because of not so small financial award of Open class the organizers managed to draw the best competitors of the heavyweight (but not only). For the first time Grzegorz Nowak from Gdynia – the medalist of the Professionals’ World Cup 2009 for right hand and silver medalist of the European Championships 2010 for left hand appeared at the tournaments. It was known that Grzesiek was the main candidate for winning the Open class. However (as the direct rivalry showed) the strongest Pole for right hand of 2007 - Marcin Lachowicz from Piaseczno and the silver medalist for right hand of Professionals’ World Cup 2009 - Dariusz Muszczak from Myszków got in his way.

The unbeaten for two years competitor from Gdynia was defeated for right hand in +95kg class in the fight with Marcin Lachowicz! To get to know how it happened read the relation of the direct observer – Tomasz Szewczyk:

Marcin attacked Grzesiek really fast in his triceps in the eliminations and won in a fraction of the second. In the cup-final the fight between these two competitors was a bit longer. Finally Marcin Lachowicz from Piaseczno turned to be better in the technique from the top.

"For last two years Grzegorz Nowak went a bomb, mainly for right hand. So my aim was that there are some competitors who can enter into fight with him. I trained hard lately. During trainings I focused on a few elements I was badly off.

As my win in Przyłęk showed I managed to reach the goal and I rose other competitors’ hope that everything is possible” said Marcin Lachowicz while  a telephone conversation.

Sticiking up for his lost Grzegorz Nowak said: “It can't be help-ed! I’ve lost. That day Marcin was simply better. That’s what sport is about, once you lose and once you win, isn’t it? But there is no point in hiding that may form was worse at the tournaments in Przyłęk. I had a hard trip – I did not sleep for almost 48hous, and I wnet  5 km from the train station to the place of the tournaments on foot. Additionally I have not trained since the European Championships in Moscow. All of these contributed to my lost. However my lost does not mean that at a coming Polish Cup I will not try to defend the title of the strongest Pole for right hand. I will be better that I was and I will show you all my best side”.

Also Dariusz Muszczak made an attempt to beat Grzesiek. In the semi-final of +95kg class he attaced Grzesiek really dynamically from the top which made Darek take the minimal lead over his opponent. Finally the burst took place and Grzesiek turned to be much better in belts. After these duels it was obvious that in Open class everthing will be fought off between those three competitors. And so it happened. Grzesiek was injured and after thought elimination fight he finally ranked third. In that class his main rivals of the tournaments Darek and Marcin beat Grzesiek without any problems (Darek beat Grzegorz by the fast top attack and Marcin by the hook technique). Finally the strongest at Lower Silesia become Marcin Lachowicz  from Piaseczno. przypadło Dariusz Muszczaka from Myszków ranked second.

The whole tournaments were really successful and all the fights (with no exceptions) were interesting and full of excitement. So we are impatiently looking forward organizers’ more detailed relation.
