The 1st Day of WC 2010 - Opalińska for Medal # Armwrestling # Armpower.net

()

Yesterday (08th December 2010) the first day of the XXXII Armwrestling World Championship - USA 2010 was held - the left hand junior, masters, grand masters, super masters and disabled rivalry. The Polish team was represented by 3 people - Janusz Piechowski from Gdynia, Gdynia Igor Mazurenko from Gdynia and Marta Opalinska from Grudziadz.

Each of them had a severe competition in their weight classes. In Marta Opalinska's up to 60kg junior class seven people took off, in the Janusz Piechowski's super grand masters class were 5 people. In Igor Mazurenko's up to 100 kg masters class were 17 people.

Finally, in the overall classification of the left hand rivalry Janusz Piechowski and Igor Mazurenko ranked 4th. While Martha Opalinska ranked second on the podium. So we have a first champions medal at this year's World Armwrestling Championships.

Martin lost in the qualification round with a representative of Kazakhstan for two fouls, but after leaving from the table, everyone said that she should beat her without any problem. She easily won nest duels and with no problem reached the cup-final, where she once again came across the same competitor from Kazakhstan. However, earlier predictions were wrong, and ultimately the armwrestler from Kazahstan proved to be better. So 2nd place and a silver medal for left hand in up to 60kg junior class is in the hands of Poland, and more generally Marta Opalinska from Grudziadz. Our congratulations!

The hardest thing was in the class of Igor Mazurenko. To reach the cup- final Igor had to win six times in turn.  Unfortunately this did not happen. Igor's first defeat was with a representative of the United States.

The second was with the Italian armwrestler. Igor finally came in the most unfortunate place for every competitor - the 4th one To the astonishment of all observers on the podium we did not see representatives from Russia, Ukraine and England, who had to acknowledge the superiority of their colleagues in eliminations. Finally, the podium of this class belonged to Italians, Americans and Canadians.

Janusz Piechowski started only in the class of the Super Grand Masters, or competitors over 60. Although previously he announced that he will compete also in grand masters class (competiotors over 50). Due to too much competition at registration he finally resigned from the fighting in grand masters.

Taking into consideration the gold medals statistics, the most frequently played anthem was the anthem of Kazakhstan. Overall assessment of the first day of the competition is qiute weak. All the time the organizers get confused. On screens - big screens, is not enough that almost nothing was visible, they showed different results than it actually was. Tables were set in such a way that it was impossible to take good photos. A podium was not prepared (digits were sticked while the decoration). Before the stage a sector only for the USA Team was prepared. Unfortunately we did not see the official opening, and start protocols were received by representatives of the teams just before the start. Additionally, every moment there was confusion in terms of classes. On the big screens we did not see any logos of the organizers, patrons and sponsors, and the background of the event was a large screen, which displays videos from the event. The whole competitions take place under the tent-like cover over the skating-rink. So draw conclusion yourself. out.
