Last weekend on the 24th of April 2010 in Suwalki the next edition of the North-East Poland Armwrestling  Championships for the Suwalki Mayor ‘s Cup. Many talented competitors not only from this part of the country but also from the clubs of far away Warsaw or Gdynia came to the picturesque town on Saturday. The main host and organizer of the rivalry was the Suwalki Sports and Recreation Centre, which hosted all the competitors and fans in an already renovated, really impressing hall.

Almost 60 competitors of both sexes (the rivalry took place only for right hand) started at 6 men weight  classes  (inter alia the prestige OPEN class) and one women class (OPEN). It is necessary to emphasise that it is an almost 50% better result in comparison to the last edition of the tournaments!

Among men classes the competitors form the Pyton Warsaw club had the lead as they won 4 of 6 weight classes. And as follows at 65kg class the fledgling Polish Champion of left hand, an inhabitant of Suwalki (living, fighting and achieving successes in the USA at present) - Dariusz Wisniewski was unbeaten. 75kg class was dominated by Mariusz Podgorski. The winner of 85kg class was Tomasz Sypniewski whereas the winner of a bit heavier 95hg class, after a very exciting fight, became Krzysztof Krajczynski. All of the four mentioned competitors are the representatives of Pyton Warsaw club.

The  most experienced and titled competitor of all - Krzysztof Kubiak representing Zloty Tur Gdynia club, reigned unquestionably over the heaviest +95kg men class.  That day there was no one equal to his by the table, as well in strength as in technique he surpassed all of his rivals. And he became the deserved winner of the prestige OPEN class. At the same time he became the strongest competitors of the Armwrestling  Championships of North-East Poland 2010.
 

Women OPEN class the only competition were Mrs and Mrs Lewandowska. Aleksandra Lewandowska of  Zloty Tur Gdynia club ranked first, beting her mum Jadwiga Lewandowska, who that day had to recognize her daughter’s superiority, in the cup-final.

Dariusz Wisniewski – the main initiator of the tournaments and the sponsor – Oscar gym deserve special thanks. Without their effort and help the event would not take place and thanks to them all the medalists were awarded with beautiful cups, diplomas, plaques medals and other material prizes. In this respect the competitions in Suwalki were unparalleled for the second time.
