Where is the youth? # Armwrestling # Armpower.net

I spotted on the website a text signed Engin Terzi. As usual, it was worth reading, because this competitor and expert knows how to commit thoughts to paper. Engin wrote: ()

A friendly warning to the American Armwrestling... do you guys realise that you have hopes mostly in pullers who are near or over 40 years old? Who is young coming to threat world arena? Todzilla, Brzenk, Bresnan, Bath, Silvers, Lupkes, M. Todd and some others are great but where are the young hopes in the world arena to represent USA? Do you guys realize that US is becoming the only country which is amongst the best but only because of its middle age and older pullers? It may be getting near to the end of the US being considered one of the best Armwrestling nations in the world... remember, this is only a friendly warning... and remember that I am not talking about having good or very good pullers, but about having the best pullers. Engin Terzi

After reading the above I decided to look at the results of World Cup in 2011 and 2012.

I limited myself only to the first five positions and only to the category of senior men.

Thus, in the two following World Cup (2011 and 2012) in the first five positions I found only four competitors from the United States and one from Canada.

These were:

VAZGEN SOGHOYAN – twice third position RIGHT 65 kg;

STORM CHELINO – fifth position LEFT 85 kg;

AJ HENSON – fourth position LEFT 90 kg;

PAUL FISCHER – fifth position LEFT +110 kg;

Canadian MARLON HICKS – fifth position RIGHT 70 kg.

That’s all!

Let’s check participants of the last PAL competition and the conclusions will be similar to those drawn by Engin Terzi.

John Brzenk is 48 years old;

Todd Hutchings is 46 years old;

Tim Bresnan is 47 years old.

And on the other side? For example:

Andery Pushkar is 27 years old;

Sergey Tokarev is 31 years old;

Arsen Liliev is 25 lat years old

Should we be worried about the situation of Armwrestling in the United States and Canada? We can’t help them, Engin’s already sent a clear message. I hope they’ll handle it themselves.

But for this year’s NEMIROFF WORLD CUP it’s an important matter. Many of the previous editions were hailed as “Battles”, “Wars” between the Two Worlds – the East and the West.

Don’t you get an impression that this year’s competition should be called “The War between the Old and the Youth”?

Not only because of the age of the participants, I go for “the Old”.

I would like John, Todd and Tim to give the youth a rough ride also because I want the secret of John and his compatriots’ success to still stimulate and intrigue us.

Everything will be decided already on the 10-11th of November. How? Let the table show!
