XI Polish Championships Nisko 2011 # Armwrestling # Armpower.net

Almost 200 competitors from 20 Polish clubs, great organization, a high sports level and many viewers and fans watching the tournaments both live in Nisku, and in front of computer screens on ArmBets.tv television - so you can briefly describe the eleventh Polish Armwrestling Championships which took place on 2nd and 3rd April 2011 in the Sports - Entertainment Arena of the Regional Vocational Education Centre (Hala Widowiskowo – Sportowa Regionalnego Centrum Edukacji Zawodowej) in Nisko.

The organizer of this year's struggles were competitors form UKS Wiking Nisko. The honorary patronage was taken by the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodship - Mr Mirosław Karapyta, the Prefect of Niżański District - Mr Gabriel Waliłko and the Mayor of the Commune and City of Nisko - Mr Julian Ozimek.

Although the competition itself began on Saturday, 2nd April, Polish best armwrestlers came to this city of just a few thousand of inhabitants the day before, so on 1st April. As on that day verification and weighing of all the participants of the competition took place. Some athletes who did not fit in planned classes had to lose weight immediately. So we were witnesses of the "cross street runs" of armwrestling masters.

After a successfully ended verification next day we met the best competitors in the right hand rivalry in Poland. A day later, Polish champions were selected, but this time for the left hand. From the very beginning, it was blindingly obvious that all participants of the championships had diligently prepared for this year's all-Poland competition. And there is nothing surprising in the end. The rate of the competitions was really high - the title of the Polish Champion and the right to start at this year's European (Turkey) and the World (Kazakhstan) Championships. Because the first two players from each weight class automatically get the call-up to the National Team. So everyone fought the best they could.

Organizationally, everything was buttoned up to the last button.

There is nothing surprising, since the main organizers - competitors from the Wiking Nisko are veterans of this type of competition. It was also evident that also representatives of cities and commine joined in the organization of the Polish Championships. And as it turned out the help of the authorities, partners and sponsors turned to be invaluable. That is what we would like to thank for in the name of competitors, observers and activists of the Federation Armwrestling Poland .

As for the rivalry itself only one thing can be said - it proceeded smoothly and quickly. Of course, as at the competition of this type there were rotations on the podium of the particular weight classes. The bet on favorites often did not win gold medals, and sometimes even did not reach the podium of this year's Polish Championships. A varirty of the weight classes and age groups, however, does not allow us to describe the individual fights. But looking at each startup lists I dare say that the many titled competitors from the Polish or even world armwrestling arena came to Nisko. For the inhabitants of Nisko it was a real opportunity to see multiple Polish champions, European and world Championships as well as world cup medalists and winners of various international competitions over the last years in action. And the faces of fans, who first saw our sport performed by professionals showed that they are pleasantly surprised by the impetus of armwrestling in Poland.

So the next competitions we have a side. We already know the Polish Champions of different weight classes of 2011 (results in the SCORES section of our site). Among the teams the one that proved to be the best was the club led by Mariusz Grochowski -MCKiS Tytan Jaworzno (2nd place - Złoty Orzeł Choszczno, 3rd place -UKS 16 Koszalin). But personally I'd add one more award of this year's Polish Championships. It would be gold for the commune and city of Nisko. Gold, which should certainly belong to all those who contributed to the organization of the XI Polish Armwrestling Championships.
