For the next time Polish armwrestlers proved that they are in the running of the rivalry of the best in the world.  Our National Team composed of 8 people of the “Over The Top” tournament organized annually in Germany came back to our country with 3 medals: gold one, silver one and brown one.
The tournaments took place on the 10th of October in Congress Park in Wolfsburg. Although the city is famous for production of well-known Volkswagen cars make unfortunately cars were not the prize but the financial prize of about 200 euro . There were almost 100 competitors from 14 countries registered.  The largest number of competitors came from Australia and of course from the host so Germany. The representatives of France, Belgium, Russia, Holland and Switzerland and some other countries also appeared. Among such a large number of international competition the Poles did really well. Let’s start with the left hand rivalry.
Rafał Fiołek from  Szaki Żary Club won in up to 70kg category for left hand. However he lost the fight for the direct entrance to the final-cup but in the final fight he vindicated himself twice and proved his predomination over a German competitor. It was at the same time the first and the only gold medal for Polish armwrestlers.
There were 3 contestants for left hand of up to 90kg category. I mean Wiesław Rzanny from Wolsztyn, Rafał Woźny from Herakles Wałbrzych and Sylwestr Świdziński from Szaki Żary Club. Eventually our representatives were on the following positions: Wiesław ranked fourth and Rafał Woźnywho is getting better from one competition to the next  was just behind him but debuting Sylwester did not live up to most experienced colleagues losing two fights and ranking far away from the podium consequently.

In left hand open category Sławomir Szkoła from Szaki Żary Club was so closed to win the medal . After very stiff fights he did very well and was fourth. Also Adam Zawadzki represented Poland in this weigh category. Unfortunately he had to concede the preponderance of more experienced colleagues as early as during the eliminations.

The left hand rivalry was quite successful for the Polish team as we got one medal and some good places just behind the podium in the general classification. And how did our competitors do for right hand?

Rafał Fiołek did not managed to repeat his left hand success and ranked fourth in the final rivalry of up to 70 kg category.
In uo to 80kg category Rafał Woźny came up trumps and won the silver medal!
Łukasz Obłuski from Złoty Tur Gdynia had a very good start in up to 90kg category. After a very stiff rivalry he almost won a medal but finally he ranked fourth. In the same category our second representative - Wiesław Rzanny unfortunately won only one duel and was far away from the podium in the final classification. But we know that he does much better for left hand.
In 100 kg category the competitors from Herakles Wałbrzych - Robert Leszko and Adam Zawadzki won two duels each and ranked in the first six.
Sławomir Szkoła can clock up his start in right hand open category as a successful one. He can include the brown medal into his collection. Congratulations!
