Almost 100 competitors from over 10 countries, medals for Polish Armrestling team  in almost every weigh category, a lot of places just behind the podium and second place in team classification, extreme emotions and high sports level – that is how we can shortly describe this year’s, 6th international tournament “JUDGEMENT DAY”, which took place on Saturday (the 17th of October 2009) during the sports fair 'Sportmax’ in Budapest.

“This year’s tournamnts were the excellent opportunity to check our competitors before the start at this year’s Professional World Cup - Nemiroff World Cup 2009 and 10th Polish Cup in StarogardGdański” – told us one of the participants of the tournament, , Tomasz Szewczyk  form Tomaszów Mazowiecki. “ All of our competitors showed a good form. Grzegorz Nowak was from Złoty Tur Gdynia Club especially distinguished, as he won as well his weigh category as Open one” – said Tome during the telephone conversation.

The great preparation of our representation  was visible from the first starts. Against a background of such countries as: Slovakia, Hungary, the Check Republic, Turkey, Greece, Belgium, Switzerland and others Polish team was especially distinguished. Our representatives beat such well known names of international Armwrestling arena as: Germanus,  Dobrovicz, Onder, Szasz and others,  more than once. They simple came up trumps. They won several medals. How many? Unfortunately we did not get the final results yet. However we will try to say at least something about the starts of our representation.

In the left hand rivalry, because of the fact that during the tournaments competitors could only choose between three weigh categories: up to 75kg, up to 90kg and over 90kg were full of the competitors (almost 30 competitors of each category).

As the first fought the competitors of the lightest category which is up to 70kg. our representatives: Korbiel Krystian, Stolarczyk Oktawian oraz Kotlas Damian from MCKiS Tytan Jaworzno unfortunately ranked behind the podium. However Dawid Bartosiewicz from UKS Złoty Orzeł Choszczno did very well in the rivalry of the category and without any problems ranked first.

In the next men category – up to 90kg we got the next medal. This time Tomasz Szewczyk from Tomaszów Mazowiecki lost the cup-final twice (reached the final without any defeat) with Radosławem Dobrovicz and finally was second on the podium.

In the heaviest category, over 90kg Dariusz Muszczak from Myszków did very well and finally ranked first. His club mate - Mariusz Grochowski z MCKiS Tytan Jaworzno unfortunately lost with Darkiem Muszczakiem and Hungarian competitor and finally ranked behind the podium in this category. Unfortunately we could not see the strongest Pole – Grzegorza Nowaka in the direct rivalry as he fought only for right hand. What was the result? Read the rest of the relation.

In women classification, as well for right and left hand Nikola Ipnar from MCKiS Tytan Jaworzno had an amazing starts. She came back to Poland with two medals – silver for left and right hand.

Our team did a bit better in the right hand rivalry. Here our competitors had more weigh possibilities (men right hand up to 65kg, 75kg, 85kg, 95kg, +95kg). Our team began to win medals from the first weigh category – up to 65kg. Here Damian Kotlarz and Oktawian Stolarczyk from MCKiS Tytan Jaworzno won as follows: Damian second place, Oktawian third place.

In the next category up to 75kg Dawid Bartosiewicz had a very good start. This time Dawid came back to Poland with a silver medal. Unfortunately our competitor lost twice by fouls: once in the eliminations and once in the cup-final. The nice surprise in the category was the start of our second representative - Kamil Krupa from MCKiS Tytan Jaworzna  who came third.

In the next up to 85kg category , Tomasz Szewczyk from Tomaszów Mazowiecki and Tomasz Sypniewski from Warsaw took up the fight. How did they do? We asked at source, so Tomasz Szewczyk.

“After a tough elimination fights I unfortunately lost with Peter Kovacz from Hungary. In the following fight I lost with Tomasz Sypniewski. In the fight with Tomek injure of the attachment of right hand had renew and I finally ranked sixth. Tomek Sypniewski wasprobably fourth”.

In the next category – up to 95kg we were witnesses of the next sensation. Our representative - Mariusz Grochowski beat the multiple European and World Champion - Jan Germanus from Slovakia in the secondo fight. Other competitors of this weigh category did not pose a threat for Mariusz. The good start led the competitor form Jaworzno directly toward the final round. His rival was then the winner of the semifinal round with Jan Germanus - Radosław Dobrovicz. Unfortunately although Mariusz beat Dobrovicza in the eliminations he had to go under not his strength but the rapidity of the start. Mariusz finished the rivalry on the second place.

in the heaviest category +95kg Grzegorz Nowak z Gdyni did great. Grzesiek did not have any problems and won the gold medal in Hungary, unfortunately our second representative - Dariusz Muszczak, as he said “I was aggrieved by the referees, their verdicts were dishonest”, fell behind in the elimination round and ranked out of the podium. There is no reason to be wondering, because of the lack of the referees most of the duels were fought off with only one referee. That is why... add the rest yourselves!

Lastly the prestige open category was fought off. Here competitors fought till one lost. There was especially prepare champion belt apart from the financial prizes to win. The unquestionable champion became Grzegorz Nowak from Gdynia who as well in the elimination fights as in the cup-final with Radoslav Dobrovicz did not get any tired. He came back to the country with both medals and the lack of any injures.
Of course N Sport television accompanied our representatives in Budapest. We are sure that soon we will be able to see the coverage from Hungary in the cyclic program “Real Armwrestling”. Honestly I can’t wait it. I would like to see the look on organizers’ faces as our representatives win the succeeding medals. Congratulations!
