Students Sports Club „Złoty Orzeł” Choszczno has its 6th beginning anniversary today (on the 20th October 2009). Exactly 6 years ago as the initiative of Artur Głowiński and some of the amateurs of armwrestling the meeting to set up the club took place.
On the occasion of this the redaction of Armpower and FAP board wish the UKS Złoty Orzeł Choszczno club many sports successes.
A Bit of a History
The beginnings were not easy – the lack of the equipment, room and difficulties in the club registration did not decrease the enthusiasm, will to fight and gaining the sympathizers of this new in this region sports discipline.
We received help and support from Ryszard Boratyński the then mayor of Choszczno. We also got the room in community centre in Choszczno were Artur Głowiński taught new competitors systematically four times a week. We did not have to wait long for the results. At the 4th Polish Championships 2004 UKS Złoty Orzeł was the third team in Poland. The success was also repeated in 2005 at the 5th Polish Championships which was by the way organized by Choszczno.
During the 6 years of club activity had differently. But the greatest troubles came up after 2007 when Robert Adamczyk became the major of Choszczno. Despite the difficulties it was still loud about our competitors, not only in our country but also in Europe and in the world.
The competitors of UKS Złoty Orzeł in national and international tournaments gained 61 gold medals together, 53 silver ones, 49 bronze ones and 35 times they ranked 4th, 28 times 5th and 30 time 6th. Quite good, isn’t it? That time our representatives won the title of Polish Champion for 43 times, Vice Champion for 33 times and 33 they become the brown medallists. Similar achievements gained during the annual Polish Cup.
Apart from the above mentioned sports achievements we may also include the title of the Polish Strongest Armwrestler of 2007 won by Artur Głowiński at Polish Cup, twice 5th position of Open category of Professional World Cup; triple title of the Professional World Vice Champion of Dawid Bartosiewicz and brown medals of World and European Championships of Bartosz Jakubowski to the greatest ones.
There will appear the names of the competitors from UKS Złoty Orzeł on the national, European and world arena for sure. What is beautiful about this sport is the atmosphere in the club and at the tournaments - the competitors create the family and help each other.
We would like to thank all the competitors, activist and friends of the club for the 6 years of support, help, work and devotion in popularization of our armwrestling club.
Curiosity: A son of Artur Głowiński one of the founders of the club – Olivier is at the same age as the club.
