Over 120 competitors from 66 cities, a great organization, high sports level and amazing fights in particular weigh categories – that is how we can describe this year’s 6th Open Polish Amateurs Championships, so the popular Armwrestling Debuts.
“The organization was as usual excellent” – the secretary of the championships from FAP - Marcin Mielniczuk told us after the tournaments. “The organizers were prepared from A to Z. The only mistake was connected with the time change. Some of the competitors arrived an hour too soon for weigh in and they had to wait” - Marcin Mielniczuk said.
The main organizer was OSP Bolo Stare Miasto. The event will take place, same as last year in the sports hall of Gymnasium in Szkolna Street in Stare Miasto (near Konin). Competitors – amateurs vied in 6 main men categories (63kg, 70kg, 78kg, 86kg, 95kg, +95kg) for right hand and in the end the prestige open category of men and women both for left and right hand were fought off.
The largest amount of competitors represented the following men categories – up to 78kg and up to 86kg. Here we could see even 30 competitors. Many carers, so the titled competitors from the whole Polish armwrestling arena came with the competitors to Stare Miasto.
“ The biggest organizational impression on us made the KS PIERWSZEGO club from z Będzin. Although nine of them came a little late for weigh in the verification of the competitors was a bit faster that in case of the others” - Marcin Mielniczuk said.
Among the starting competitors the medallists of particular categories deserve the special attention. But the one who stood out the most was the winner of +95kg and left and right hand open - Marcin Skalaki from Nowa Wola. Marcin who trains in the custody of the trainers and competitors of Armfight Piaseczno club dominated at the table in the left and right hand rivalry. There were no others equal to him. He finally managed to win 30 duels and it is beyond doubt who is the best among the amateurs of 2009. Congratulations!
As we remember the winner of the Open category of the 1st Polish Championships in 2004 was the casual man. We can see that Polish armwrestling amateurs are really well prepared and there are no more accidental wins. At this sports level it is just impossible.
“Debuts are the event when the competitors who have never fought off at larger tournaments may try their hands in the fight with legitimate competitors” – said the President of FAP -
Igor Mazurenko. “A competitor who started at debuts may always continue his starts at national arena. There are also the competitors who are preparing for and come only to this event. From year to year the tournaments are enjoying still increasing interest. There is no point to be surprised that everyone who feels up to and is not associated in any of all-Poland club can take part at such an event. We can hear more and more that debuts are hard to win. From year to year the sports level increases. It is worth to think of fighting off the debuts twice a year or widen the junior categories and left hand rivalry” – said Igor Mazurenko.
