At this year’s Nemiroff World Cup 2009 , which took place on the 6th and 7th of November in the Olympic Sunrise Casino in Hilton Hotel in Warsaw, Polish competitors did really well among titled world competitors winning four medals. Mateusz Wyrwa from Nisk and Dariusz Muszczak from Myszków won the silver medals for left hand of 63kg class (Mateusz) and 95kg class(Dariusz). Mateusz did not managed the strength of the Russian World Champion - Murat Barlokov, and in the final fight Darek did not stand a show with legendary champion John Brzenk from the USA. Both competitors did well also for right hand. However they did not reach the medal zone but they literally had a brush with podium (Mateusz ranked 4th and Dariusz 5th). Our representatives did same good for right hand. On the second day of the tournaments we won the next two medals. Piotr Bartosiewicz from Choszczno ranked 2nd in the 86kg class. Unfortunately he did not manage to win the final duel with the following ace, multiple world and European champion – Rustam Babev. The strongest right handed Pole of 2008 (he got the title at the Polish Cup in Jaworzno) - Grzegorz Nowak from Gdynia won the next medal for our country in the super heavy class which is over 95kg. Grzegorz heaving such rivals as Denis Cyplenkov from Russia, Andrey Pushkar from Ukraine and other well built competitors he managed to win the brown.

Apart from our medallists other Poles also did very well on the cup arena. In the final rivalry many of them ranked near the podium.

Rafał Fiołek from Żary was 8th for left hand and 6th for right hand of 63kg class. Also the armwrestlers of 70kg class sold themselves. As here Bartłomiej Bednarski from Jaworzno ranked 5th for left and 8th for right hand. Dawid Groch from Nisk was 6th for left hand. Just behind the podium (4th place) of the same class of the right hand rivalry was Mariusz Podgórski from Warsaw. According to the fact that last year Dawid Bartosiewicz won medals, we may say that it was not such a good start as we expected. As Dawid was 5th for left hand in 78kg class, and far away from podium which is 11th for right hand. And his elder brother - Piotrek Bartosiewicz can regard his start as a successful one. Apart from the medal of right hand 86kg class he may also recognize the 5th place for left hand and 4th for right hand of Open class as his success. Unfortunately in the next class – up to 95kg, except for the medallist - Dariusz Muszczak, the rest of Polish representatives ranked far from the podium. In the heaviest class – over 95kg our second representative - Sławomir Głowacki from Inowrocław ranked 16th for left hand and 7th for 22 starting competitors. Our only female representative– Małgorzata Ostrowska from Strzegom also did quite well in the up to 65kg class. Although Małgosia proved as more than once that she may reach the medal zone, this time she ended up ranked not very good but good 5th for left and 6th for right hand. The good start of all of the Polish competitors enabled Polish National Team rank 3rd in the general team classification (the first was Russia and the second – Ukraine). Congratulations.
