Poles before the NEMIROFF WORLD CUP 2011

I'll win the Cup in the Open!

My goal is to win the NEMIROFF WORLD CUP in the Open class - says Dariusz Groch, 26-year-old, leading Polish player.

We're talking two weeks before the biggest event of the 2011 season.

How are you going to spend the last two weeks before the Cup?
Dariusz Groch: I usually completely pass up workouts 4-5 days before the competition. Now, two weeks before the start I practice with the use of loads with which I can perform from several to a few dynamic movements, alternating with holding them in an appropriate angle.

Have you already felt that the form has come?
Dariusz Groch: My form is getting better from year to year. As to weight it also is getting better. Now I start in the category of 78 kg. Last year my weight was about 75 kg. Now I am much closer to 77 kg, I feel stronger and more confident.

Do you have any psychological preparation?
Dariusz Groch: Thinking about the start is enough!

What is your doing a long-term goal in armwrestling?
Dariusz Groch: A goal? The first place in the 78 kg category at the Professionals’ World Cup, the ability to compete and beat the best in the open category at every competition. To stand on the podium of the Professionals' World Cup  open category in 4-5 years time:-)

Do you think Rustam Babayev competes so effectively in the open class again?
Dariusz Groch: Rustam has already proven to be capable of wrestling with the heavier players but everything is possible and I cheer them both.

You have recently seen Andrey Pushkar at ORAWA ARMWRESTLING CHALLENGE. What are your impressions?
Dariusz Groch: I think that he is able to beat Denis on the right hand.

And on the left?
Dariusz Groch: I’ll be strongly surprised if someone establishes fight with Cyplenkov on the left hand.

How do you predict the results of the Poles?
Dariusz Groch: When it comes to our staff, I know that it will be interesting! However, I’ll not tell you my favourites.

Will the scores be surprising?
Dariusz Groch: There will be surprises. I believe there are many players including the Poles, who can mix in their categories and overcome favourites. Personally I can’t wait the next World Cup!

We’ll meet in Ozarow Mazowiecki.
Dariusz Groch: See you at the Cup, cheer on the Poles!
