Nemiroff World Cup 2011
Behind the Scenes # 8
We already know that Igor Mazurenko invited a Russian player Viacheslav Karpova to the next Nemiroff World Cup 2012. You could say that Slava already has the invitation in his pocket. Why? There is great potential in him and if he only examines his preparations, he can really stir in the top three of 95 kg class, or even in the royal open. Where did he come from? From the powerlifting. He saw pictures of Nemiroff World Cup 2007 and decided to change the discipline. Thus, a player of the short probation, who has already managed to become the Russia Armwrestling Champion, qualified for the national team, went to the European Championships, and entered the box there. There also, at the European Championships he ankled to Igor Mazurenko and said about the reasons which made him change powerlifting to armwrestling. Igor invited Viacheslav to the World Cup.
As he told us just after the competition, Slava was just incredibly excited that he can participate in this type of event. There is also a kind of sports lack, as he ranked quite far, on the left he was the sixth and 12th on the right. He counted on more, but also - as he admits in the interview himself – he did not expect such a level and such fights. He was preparing in the same way as to the Russian Championships and the European Championships, but it was not enough!
Slava admitted that he had seen a few events at the championship level, but the World Cup made a great impression on him and such a level in any way – he could not have even imagined. The best event, I’ve ever been to! - said Karpov in an interview with our reporter. – It’s a huge experience to watch these fights live! - He added. Slava did not want to classify which player, which fight made the greatest impression on him. However, he said that he would long remember what: Arsen, Todd, Andrey, Denis, and Khadzimurat had been doing at the table. It’s impossible to choose the Best of the Best! This is not the choice of the most beautiful women, after all, but a serious competition, and I know that each of them put all the strength to win here. We asked Slave what he thinks of the American players. He admitted that their fall behind the Europeans. What about the pompously announced Travis Bagent? Hard to say, Slava watched his fights on the Internet, so now - when he saw him live - he had the impression that Travis is smaller, few pounds thinner than he was at the time of his greatest triumphs.
We also asked him what impress John Brzenk made on him. Viacheslav admitted that seeing Brzenk live – it was hard to believe that such a thin, unassuming guy takes a round of such players as, for example, Denis Cyplenkov.
- Cheerio Armpower.net! I’ll arrive at Nemiroff World Cup 2011 if they invite me! - Said at the end of our conversation Viacheslav Karpov. We made him sure once again that on behalf of the organizer and fans we can say: Slava, we are waiting for you in 2012!
