On 9th-10th March 2012 the Russian Armwrestling Championships will take place in the Moscow Martial Art Centre. The competitions are unique due to the expected amount of the player and sports level, that guarantees participation of medalists of world tournaments. But it’s not all!
For the first time competitors form all around the world will be allowed to participate the tournaments! Literally! However not in all weight classes rivalry but in the “absolute” open class on the right ram. This additional class will be held based on unique, new rules.
The organizers planned it as follows. After the end of the Saturday fights, each player, including foreigners will be able to apply for participation in open class. First, players will be fighting in double-elimination system. This “section” will be conducted until the first eight of the best armwrestlers will be selected.
Then selected eight will be drew in a ladder and will be fighting with each other in double-elimination system, but with a certain modification. Every fight of two players will be conducted in ARMFIGHT system, so will consist of six rounds. In case of a tie 3:3, the seventh round will be held.
So the tournament seem to be really exciting, and that’s not all! The organizers decided for an additional, professional evening, as they want to test in practice the system that is supposed to be adopted to the A1 Russian OPEN Armwrestling Grand Prix.
The additional motivation is the prize money pull for the first eight players in the open class of the Russian Championships.
