The beauty of the sport lies in the fact that sometimes the fate deals the podium places. Fate – blind like Themis. Fate, doom may reveal itself in the form of barrier falling down under the wheels of the best cycler. The fate may burst out laughing and break the competitor’s pole in the final, crucial try-out. The fate factor also arranges the ladder in the game tournament. It may be so, that the current champion will meet the vice-champion and in the first elimination round and for one of the it over. There are disciplines where player are set to avoid such a situation. Players may be set, arranged in a rating or chosen by drawing of lots.
But to CHOSE, who should fight with whom, after conducting part of the tournamnets, is not (gently speaking) a good idea.
And that is how did the organizers of the Moscow Russian Championships during the open class, as a “general trial” before the July A1 tournament. And as I wrote not long ago, Andrey was chosen for Denis, and Khazimurat fought with Arsen. Cyplenkov exhausted by Pushkar lost with Liliev and still has “a little” feeling of disgust, or rather o bears a grudge against such a way of choosing pairs.
We all know that if the setting had been different, the result would have been much, too. Cyplenkov’s sponsors and promoters always regarded the results of the NEMIROFF WORLD CUP, irrespective of result of the “Beast”. Whatever was the rivalry, no one would have doubt that it was the fate – the arrangement of the players. It could have been better for some and worse for the others, but always INDEPENDENT.
The idea of conducting A1 Tournament is genius and gives a possibility of creating extreme emotions. The ceremony of drawing may be an independent, exciting performance. But “the devil is in the details” and the “selection” of pairs versus drawing should certainly be considered. Personally I do not see any arguments for, to “select” instead of draw.
Of course – in the tournament an elitist group of players will take part. That is why each fight, each round, each second spent at the table will be decisive. In fact I do not see any arguments for the clue, that was used during the general trial in Moscow.
But, let’s hope for the best! “General trials” are to correct all of the shortcomings before the premiere. And the premiere is in a few weeks time, so there is still some time to correct it. I invite you to the discussion weather a draw or selection. And maybe some other (what kind of ) rating and then arranging players before drawing? What’s your opinion?
