Traditionally in autumn, we’ve started to get interested in incoming NEMIROFF WORLD CUP. Some comments, prognosis, predictions and typing appear. Who, whom, who on the left and who on the right, who in open left arm and who in right? Traditionally the name Cyplenkov and so on… has been appearing on a screen for a few years. On the left, on the right, in the class, in open, on the first or on the second day… We deliberate if Babayev will enter trio, how he will fight with his brother. We are wondering if now, again America will “show” Russia and Ukraine or contrariwise. And what’s more, obligatory, in what shape will John Brzenk be? It’s always so. Every autumn.
And my question is – what about the girls?
It was my intention to begin the cycle of ArmLadies. We’ve already met Irina and Zanna, and a conversation with Sniezana will appear soon. It was my intention because during this year’s NEMIROFF WORLD CUP 2012 a huge change of women rivalry is going to take place. There will be THREE weight classes: 52 kg, 65 kg and +65 kg.
A bit of history
At the first Zloty Tur Tournament, which took place in Poland, in Gdynia (the 20th February 2000) two women classes were played. I’d also like to remind you that these were only right arm fights. Irena Zielinska from Ukraine won -60 kg class and Kate Thermann won +60 kg class.
In 2001, on the 10th March at the Zloty Tur II Tournament – women took part in only one class. Veronika Bonkova from Bulgaria beat all her rivals having a huge predominance.
Veronika Bonkova and Viktoria Iliushyna ruled at the table at NEMIROFF WORLD CUP, just like Andrey and Denis among men.
At NEMIROFF WORLD CUP 2007, that took place in Warsaw at the turn of November and December in Hilton Hotel Olympic Casino the fights took place on both arms and women fought in -60 kg class. Olena Skoryk (Ukraine) won the left arm rivalry whereas Viktoria Iliushyna (Ukraina) ruled on the second day. Also a Swede Felicia Rydstedt appeared on the right arm podium.
At NEMIROFF WORLD CUP 2008 Viktoria Iliushyna became the Queen on both arms. Veronika and Felicia accompanied her on the podium (on the first day in this order and on the second in reverse).
NEMIROFF WORLD Cup 2009 (Poland, Warsaw, Hilton Hotel Olympic Casino). Women fights took place in one class only – up to 65 kg. Irina Ekaterina (Russia) won double gold. Sarah Bäckman (Sweden) got double silver and Irina Gladkaya (Russia) – double bronze.
At NEMIROFF WORLD CUP 2010 in Sopot the podium on both days also looked the same. That year Sarah Bäckman began her regin in -65 kg class . The second on both arms was Viktoria Iliushyna (Ukraine). Double bronze went to Felicia Rydstedt (Sweeden).
In 2011 Sarah ruled again, Viktoria ranked secondo twice and the Pole Marlena Wawrzyniak was third on the first day and the Slovakian Lucia Debnarova on the second day.
NEMIROFF WORLD CUP 2012 is a double dose of women Armwrestling! Who will we see? Will all the pervious leaders of the -65 kg obtain weigh limit? Which players will appear in the “plus” class? Due to our information the new class is becoming popular as well among Americans and Europeans.
Three times more excitement, soon in November in Warsaw InterContinental Hotel.
