Good morning, Engin!
What can you tell us about the two biggest events of the year - European (EAC) and World Championships (WAC), as an Expert?
What do you think about Turkish team results?
We are really interested in how can You envisage this year's NEMIROFF World Cup after announcing Denis Cyplenkov’s absenteeism?
- My opinion about the EAC is that it was a well organized championships except some reffing problems … I can not say the same thing about Worlds, which was in Brazil since it was disappointment.
- Turkish team has done well both in EAC (over 30 medals) and WAC (over 20 medals). We began to bring powerful teams since the election of our Armwrestling legend Niyazi Kurt. We plan to continue in this way and bring powerful teams.
- First time in Turkish Armwrestling history we will be sending an official team to NEMIROFF 2012, which is the best pro event in the world.
- I see this year's NEMIROFF as a possible dominance by Pushkar, since Cyplenkov will not be there. But I don’t know about who comes from N.America in open. M. Todd may change the things..
- Toughest classes of 2012 NEMIROFF will probably be +65kg women's, 70kg men's and 95kg men's classes. -86 will be dominated by Rustam* and supers will probably be owned by Pushkar.
*„Attention! The interview took place before the announcement about Rustam Babayev's injury.”
- We plan to send our -55kg world champion Mehmet Cetinkaya to 63kg, 65kg world champion Serhat Arslan to 70kg, 90kg - silver medalist Tuncay Basaran to 95kg and a few other athletes as well..
- In 95kg Arsen looks as the favorite, but after Krasimir beating him in world now 95kg looks confussing as Hutchings and John will be in mix as well. Hutchings would beat Krasimir but may get flashed by Arsen. John with his experience has chance to win the class
- In 78kg Zoloev is the clear favorite, and the real challenge will be for the 2. place. Janis, Mamedov and some other will be fighting for the silver.
- In 70kg Khetag looks favorite but the current world champion Hristo will probably there as well. Not sure who else comes but Kovalchuk will be a threat as well. The draw will play an important role in this class..
Thank you Engin!
