On the basis of what’s happened and some already announced (I’m writing it on the 14th of October) national team, it can be said that…
Everything Can Happen Here!
In fact, this year, everything can happen in this class, every score is possible. For example John has in his 95kg class NEMIROFF schedule among others Alexandr Drushits, Taras Ivakin, Alexandr Fugarov, Ion Oncescu, Krasimir Kostadinov. Arsen “Shrek” Liliev beat: Todd Hutchings, Alexandr Gusov, Charmen Khadaev, Dzambolat Tsoriev. Whereas Tsoriev was followed by Litovtsev and Kariaev. Everyone can threaten anyone.
And as it befits the “EXCHANGE” let’s refer to so called “technical analysis”.
Feeling As a Million ‘Brzenks’!
The first news refers to the “Legend”, so John Brzenk. John was recovering from a serious injury and took part in a tournament in Bulgaria to check out how he feels, he rested and started hard trainings to get prepared for the World Cup. He decided to help his friend to get prepared. Todd Hutchings and John are training together whenever they can.
How was that at previous NEMIROFF editions?
In 2008 John came first on the right arm, beating Taras Ivakin (Ukraine) and Alexandr Drushchits (Russia). On the left arm John was vanquished by, Lucjan Fudala, the only Pole who managed to reach gold of the Cup so far. Alexander Drushchits was left defeated.
2009 double triumph. On the left arm John beat Dariusz Muszczak and Alexandr Fugarov. On the right arm he was followed by Ion Oncescu (Romania) and Krasimir Kostadinov (Bulgaria).
In 2010 John put on weight to fit in +95kg class and came 4th on the right arm and 4th in open, too.
NEMIROFF WORLD CUP 2011 took place without the participation of the American. He came to Poland as the Honorable Guest and the commentator and his compatriots’ coach.
Now, he’s coming back!
We saw him in June in Bulgaria where he was sixth, only sixth. John said then, that he assessed the time needed for the full rehabilitation improperly. As for the last few months he’s been training hard with Todd it means that he’s already recovered. His knowledge of other players’ possibilities is huge. His getting more and more experience from year to year.
He announced that if his injury was FULLY recovered it could mean his previous form would come back! And in addition, all his experience!
Being in his opponents shoes… I wouldn’t declare myself as a candidate for the gold of 95kg class. I’m sure that John will be really threatening this year. And if his going to be menacing in his weigh… You can imagine yourself, but I’ll remind you 2008 and 2009 open class.
Hutchings’s Second Youth!
Todd Hutchings was the seventh on the left and second on the right arm in 2011. On the left arm he was defeated by Arsen Liliev, and they were followed by Alexander Gusov on the 3rd place, Charmen Khadaev – the 4th and Dzambolat Tcoriev – the 5th (everyone form Russia). Todd’s training under the “Legend’s” supervision and he’s training as never before. Will it be effective?
And maybe if the American Armwrestling School prevails over the “East” one – we will have two American flags during the decoration…
Will 95kg class at NEMIROFF become “American” this year?
Let’s think over who can threaten them (John and Todd)?
The Slovakians?
No, not anymore, at least not now. Lubomir Jagnesak controlled the first step of the podium of the right arm rivalry for two years (2010, 2011). Now, he’s not going to come.
Maybe the Poles?
Lucjan Fudala, who beat sensationally John in 2008, won’t take part this year. Poland will be represented by: Dariusz Muszczak, Mariusz Grochowski, Michal Weglickki, Natan Kajdas (all of the on both arms).
Dariusz Muszczak was the 4th on the left arm in 2008 (it was the “Polish class”) and the 6th on the right arm. Next year he was the 2nd and the 5th and in 2010 – the 5th and the 6th.
Mariusz Grochowski was the 9th (left arm) and the 7th (right arm) in 2010.
Michal Weglicki in 2010 came 11th and 9th.
This part should not be published in the Polish section –it rather won’t be the “Polish” class, this year … But please dear readers, don’t give me away to my compatriotsJ
Perhaps Ukraine?
The Ukrainian team lineup will consist of four armwrestlers: Yevhen Litovtsev – he was the 7th on the right arm and the 2nd on the left in 2010. On the left arm he was then overtaken by Dzambolat Tsoriev (Russia), Giovanni Nimis from Italy was the 3rd, and Murat Kariaev (Russia) – the 4th. Igor Miroshnyk debuted at NEMIROFF WORLD CUP in the Polish team in 2011 and was the 9th on the first day and the 8th on the second day. He came a long way, he tasted fight with some heavier athletes, trained in Gdynia under Igor Mazurenko’s supervision. So… Miroshnyk is “still water”. He may as well take a huge piece of the “cup cake” as to do without. Although he’s not so young anymore (his youthful face should not mislead you) he’s not “used” yet, he suffered no significant injuries, nor had to interrupt his career in order to rehabilitate and recover. He’s thinking while he’s fighting. I, as I simply like this wrestler, wish him success, but I also know that he rather won’t overtake John Brzenk. Can he beat Hutchings? I give him about 40 percent. Will defeating Todd clear his way to the podium? This is another pair of shoes.
What about Mikhail Guz and Artem Taynov? Can they turn my thinking upside down as they approach the table? Yes, they can!
Who Form Russia?
The Russian team is: Alexander Drushits, who came 3rd twice at NEMIROFF 2008. In 2009 he was the 9th on the right arm. In 2010 he came 8th and 11th.
Dzambolat Tsoriev punched pretty well. In 2010 he came 3rd on the left arm and 1st on the right. In 2011 he got silver on the left and came 5th on the right arm. This season was also quite a successful one for him: gold and bronze at the World in -90kg class.
And the last but not the least my favorite competitor, so Arsen „Shrek” Liliev. The first on the right arm in 2011. This year World Champion and European vice-champion.
What can we expect from him this year?
Everything!
Shrek is unpredictable! And what about his left arm? We’ll see on the 10th November!
Who Else?
You’ve already know Terence Opperman, from South Africa, from my texts. He’ll probably start in 95kg class. Medet Kuttymuratov, who’ll come from Kazakhstan will be fighting on left and right arm.
From Italy: Edmir Froku on right arm and Giovanni Nimis on left and right.
From the last minute (16.10.) information from Romania: Sabin Badulescu (5th right hand 2008) an best Romanian under 90 kg, Stefan Tamas.
To sum up, if I’m about to bet:
On the right arm I - John, “Shrek” and “Krasi”.
On the left arm: “Shrek”.
