A few months ago, after the WAF’s Congress in Brazil I posted some material on our website believing that I would never return to this topic.
http://en.armpower.net/article/en/www-problem-waf-2405.html
A few months elapsed and I checked if anything had changed on WAF’s website. Nothing has changed! Absolutely nothing! Even the error box popping out when you google the phrase „World Armwrestling Federation” keeps appearing. Here’s what you can see on the screen:
Then we’ve got:
I decided to act like someone from the outside, who would like to contact WAF. When I was looking for the address, I came across that:
I could see the address and phone number, but the information did not correspond with the facts.
Moreover, no up-to-date, important information was to be found on the website!
How is that possible?
Where is the „new” WAF, its authorities, its new headquarters and address?
This is a serious matter!
We’re not the most important sport in the world. We still need to win support for our sport at the global and local level. We still need to try so that others regard us, our authorities as a professionally organized sports organization with global reach.
Whenever you want to check a given company, or an organization, first you do some research on the Internet, visit the official website, homepage.
What will people find when they decide to learn something about us?
Embarrassment!
What is the cause of this situation?
I’ve received information that WAF’s domain/website is owned by a private person who holds no position in WAF. Apparently it is someone related to Lise Blanchard.
I’ve also learned that the new WAF’s authorities have been offered to buy the domain for 50 thousand dollars.
Let’s sum it up!
Currently WAF’s website does not belong to the current WAF’s authorities!
The person who created the website at little cost many years ago wants to sell it now!
My personal conclusions are as follows:
- We should not seek justice in courts, because it’s troublesome and expensive!
- We should not negotiate with the “seller” under any circumstances!
- We should publish all thoroughly documented correspondence between the “new” WAF and the “sellers”!
This will do, for armwrestlers will realize themselves what the problem is and will pay the back in their own coin!
The law is the law!
I’ve always been against creating the law because a particular event occurred. I believe that the “theft” with the use of Internet tools is no different from the “theft” done with the use of a jemmy. We are not exempt from obeying the law and common decency regardless of technical issues or new technologies!
“Someone” “once” registered the name of WAF’s domain. It may be assumed that the person was somehow related to the Federation and worked for its good. The person knew that it would soon become the only platform for us to communicate with each other and represent us in the world. Though we may praise this person for their insight, they cannot claim the rights to the website created for WAF.
There is also another scenario possible. The person had the foresight to register and buy the WAF’s domain cynically counting on future financial benefits! I really wouldn’t like it to be the case.
We need to create a new WAF’s website as soon as possible. As I wrote above – I see no chance of getting back the possibility to manage the current website.

The issue of WAF’s website was also brought up by Tomasz Wiśniowski on his profile under a telling heading:
„HOW LONG THE PING PONG GAME?”
http://www.facebook.com/TomaszWisniowskiVISNIA?fref=ts
Tomasz asks some important questions:
Where is information about next world championships- the places and dates are already chosen – Poland, Lithuania and I guess USA
Where are the results of world championships from the years 2007-1998?
Was WAF established in 1998 or in 1977 as it says in the logo here:
http://www.worldarmwrestlingfederation.com/contact.htm
Where is the information about subordinate continental federations? They exist, don’t they?
Most subpages do not work. There is no information about the number of members, the year a country joined WAF, the number of world championships hosted, etc.
In the case of Netherlands even the name of the president is not provided: http://www.worldarmwrestlingfederation.com/countrypages/countrynetherlands.htm
THE MATERIAL WILL BE PUBLISHED ON 11 FEBRUARY 2013. THIS TIME I CAN ASSURE YOU I WILL KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS TOPIC!
