The power of the media!

In March this year we published an interview with Taras Ivakin.

You can read it here:

There was one question and a brief answer:

Taras, how are you? What are your plans?

Taras Ivakin: I’m coming back to professional armwrestling, provided PAL has any offers for me. I’m ready. I just need to decide which competitions to pick up. So I’m definitely going for PAL and NEMIROFF 2013. I won’t be able to take part in the European Championships, nor in World Championships. I need to pick only a few events.

The background of this interview was as follows. Igor Mazurenko exchanged messages with Taras via one of social networks. They were talking about Taras possibly coming back to armwrestling. Mind you, it was only a possibility. However, as with playing Chinese whispers, the information I got was a bit distorted as I learned that Taras was certainly coming back and had started to prepare. Friends would call me and ask about details. It came to Taras as a surprise, as he had not read the interview yet. But when he read it, he decided to come back!

The first event he’ll compete in is LION CUP FITMAX CHALLENGE 2013. That’s where we met him.

Tell us first, why did you stop competing?

Taras Ivakin: I had enough. I was tired and a bit discouraged.

It’s important that you’re back again!

Taras: Yes, I am! When I read about my coming back on the website, I decided to return. I don’t want to hurry. I’m not setting myself ambitious aims for the time being.
I came to Lviv to test my skills. I started training again only a few months before. I do work outs to wake my body up after a long break. Some things have changed in my life. I’ve returned to teaching – I teach physical education and I’ll have more time to train.

What kind of competitions are you going to take part in?

Taras: I’m definitely not going to compete in amateur tournaments. I don’t need yet another hundred medals. I don’t want to compete for free, so I will only take part in professional events. I hope I will be in good form.

Thanks for the conversation and good luck.

Taras: Thanks and see you soon. By the way, I’ll read this interview, toosmiley
