For two years now he’s been a college grounds administrator, but before that he was a lumberjack for most of his life, since he was a kid, just like his father. He’s been in sports for abiut 25 years now.
- I’ve learned to wrestle when I was a kid, Steve Baillargeon showed me top roll and other techniques – recalls the Canadian armwrestler, Sylvain Perron. It started with me and my twin brother entering a tournament in USA, nearby where we lived. When I started winning against guys with 20 years of experience, I realized I have to push on.
He had a great start, his first success was a provincial event when he was 19 years old. He won the Canadian Championships his first year of training.
- I never suffered any injuries, only my right arm hurts a little sometimes, but that’s after 25 years of wrestling. It doesn’t hamper my progress in any way.
He says he just lives his life day by day and tries to get better at what he does. He enjoys his successes, like winning World Champion in 2003.
- I’ll never forget beating both brothers Brzenk in Curacao in 1998 – says Perron, and adds – I want to be the best for myself and beat everyone else in the world.
