Can you write an obituary for a stranger? In theory – not really. But I’m still doing it, because I run this website and it’s up to me to publish this sad news on armpower.net.
Ueli Bühler – I’ve heard the name for the first time today. I checked his Facebook profile. He was in a relationship. He had friends. He died 13 days after his own birthday.
I’ve read condolences from a few armwrestlers.
I saw a picture of a smiling man. A man too young by far to die.
I haven’t had the chance to meet him. I’m only 4 years younger than he was and I cannot bear to think that I could die in 4 years.
Death follows life, but not many of us can take another’s death calmly. We live, we make plans for the future, we forget that in a moment we could be dead.
Let’s remember Ueli and all the others who have left. And let’s not forget those who live.

This is how Igor Mazurenko recalls Ueli: I saw him for the first time at the European Championships in 2000. He had a real fire in him when it came to armwrestling. I saw him at every Europe and World Championships since i've first met him. He was a good mate and a person who did a lot for armwrestling in Switzerland and all over the world. We are all going to miss him.
