The Japanese Armwrestling Federation officials have come to Baku especially to meet the WAF board and consult the details of organization – says Marcin Mielniczuk. – It will be the first time they organize a tournament on such a high level.
Some time ago, the WAF board of directors made a proposal to all continental federations to organize events on the level similar to the European Championships or World Championships in Gdynia in 2013. To achieve that goal many enhancements needed to be made. Implementing special software (ArmOfTaurus), multimedia screens or bar code scanners – these are just some of the necessary enhancements. We could see that in Gdynia, where the biggest event so far (1200 contestants) was run in record time.
About 250 contestants from several countries have confirmed their starts, the most from Pakistan, Iran and Uzbekistan. The tournament will take three days, the weigh-ins will be run at the 25th June, the fights from the 26th to 28th June.
We are planning a transmission on armpower.net, but we have to verify the conditions at the location – says Mielniczuk. – I saw organizers in Baku make a lot of technical documentation and ask lots of questions, so I hope it will all be high-level.
The tournament will take place in Sendai, the largest city of the Tohoku region.
We’d like to remind all that countries willing to start in the Asian Championships are bound to register online beforehand. All forms need to be sent to the General Secretary until June 6th. All details can be found here:
