Cutting without losing power is the dream of many sportspeople, especially before a tournament. To do this, try out this method, the effectiveness of which has been tested on himself and his students by the press representative of RAA, Ivan Dobrorezov. Before we get on to it, let’s take a moment to mention the most interesting way of cutting weight ever.
It’s called “the camel method”. We’ve heard of it from the Master of Sports, Michael Shavaleev. It’s very simple, and the name says it all. You just produce a lot of saliva and spit a lot. The only thing you need here is chewing gum, to produce spit quickly and not risk dry mouth. An average spit equals a gram of weight. It’s a good way to lose some 100 – 200 gram. Looks nasty, but it works.
Now, on to the effective method by Ivan Dobrorezov. He uses the method of UFC specialist, Martin Rooney. Rooney ensures that before cutting you need to be 5 – 7 kg overweight maximum. If you’re more, then it might be dangerous and needs to be condsidered.
Let’s analyze the situation, where a sportsman wants to lose weight without losing stamina. Water intake to be ready by Friday:
Sunday – 8 liters;
Monday – 4 liters;
Tuesday – 4 liters;
Wednesday – 2 liters;
Thursday – 1 liter;
Friday – no water until weigh-ins.
The hormone aldosterone, responsible for retention of sodium and potassium, will be quenched by using lots of water at the early stages of reduction. After limiting water intake, the body will still process and evacuate lots of water, while retention levels will drop, thus losing weight. But Rooney’s method is not limited to water only. His reduction diet is based on deficit of fruit, starch and sugars, because 1 gram of carbs draws 2,7 grams of water. The priority is high-quality protein, greens and cruciferous plants. Forget salt, it draws water into the body.
Rooney emphasizes the necessity of eating in small amounts, every half hour after weigh – ins. Focus on carbs, to bring up your blood sugar levels. And also rehydrate, of course. Drink until your urine turns almost clear. But as food, drinks also need to be rationed.
Is this a good method of cutting for armwrestlers? For sure! The proof is in Dobrorezov’s successes.
And how do you cut weight?
