When we are faced with a choice of a way, we often wonder, which way to choose? Many are tempted with quick development and progress, but not all are strong enough to take the fair road. Doping is the choice for the weak.
In the amateur career the breaking point is often a loss at a tournament. Some can take a loss, some even a few losses. While some draw inspiration from failure, others experience frustration and feel hopeless, which leads them over the edge.
Vitaly Orehov (nickname “Peanut”), a social media figure, recently published a video called “The moment of crossing the dark border”, in which he presented the internal changes of a sportsman inside of 33 seconds. The video starts with a guy and a girl fighting at a table. Slowly but surely the girl pins the guy to the table. The frustrated guy then orders a bunch of substances, to increase his power and avoid failure in the future.
I wanted to show a sportsman who fell in a moral sense, gave up and couldn’t find a better solution for his problems – says Orehov. – The “dark border” is a metaphor. It’s selling your soul to the devil.
The moral is clear – the weak of spirit want to get strong in body, taking the path of least resistance. The availability of controlled substances makes doping the help for those who gave up and cannot follow the right path. Some still try to fight with the unfair system that justifies lack of doping control on certain events. Those who went over the edge are an example to others; along with testing skill, power and technique we often observe tests in the pharmacological race. When control is impossible, it’s important to get to the motivation.
