Vandetta in Vegas was a start for the bigger and better events.
First match was between Vazgen Soghoyan and Chris Gobby. I was expecting it to be a tougher supermatch. In fact it could have been but only if Chris was a bit faster. Vazgen knew how to pull against Chris and he dragged Chris so quick to put him in a losing position where Chris was not able to use his joint pressure. Vazgen made sure that it would not be an upper arm battle. Vazgen's forearm and speed won this supermatch. His knowledge and experience are already known. If the match would be a slow start match then Chris would more likely win but armwrestling is a sport with its own rules and strategy, speed, technique are the important factors to win as well.
Bresnan vs Prudnyk was expected to be a better match up. I know that Tim did not want to hear any excuse but we all know that Prudnyk was injured after his tough battles against Spartak Zoloev at the Europeans. But honestly i felt that Tim would have won the match even if Prudnyk was healthy. I may be wrong but this is what i believe. I believe that Prudnyk should continue his supermatch career in -95kg as facing the top superheavyweights in supermatches is different than facing them in the overall competetions. Jerry Cadorette vs Khadzimurat Zoloev match is another example for what i say.
Pushkar vs Lupkes match was a bit disappointing. I was guessing Pushkar to win but Lupkes did not seem to be ready for such a meeting for some reasons. I would like to see Pushkar vs anyone in the near future as he seems to be ready for anyone. His wins against John Brzenk last year at A1 gives me ideas about his currect strength.
Zolcinski vs Owens match was the best supermatch of the night. After the first round Owens seemed too much for Zolcinski when Zolcinski tried a deep hook. Owens just wrist curled him and pinned very comfortably. After that round Zolcinski used his bicep strength against Owens hand by leaning back side. This strategy unabled Owens to use his wrist as effective as he used in first round. Once Owens could not have full wrist control then it involved the arm strength. Pulling in such way allowed Zolcinski to have opportunity give what he has. Owens' armwrestling quality was vs Zolcinski's strength and the matches often ended with Owens' elbow fouls. It was a close match up but Zolcinski seemed to be the one who is stronger.
Not sure what Pal plans to organise next time but hopefully we will see better match ups for the next Vegas Vendetta. Better match ups with a bit tolerance of ref will create more exciting events for sure. Leonard Harkless was the best choice as a ref. Congratulations to PAL for this new beginning !
