NG: Up until this year, you were known in armwrestling as a heavyweight junior. Tell us about yourself. How did you start armwrestling? How long have you been training? I also read in comments that many people are interested in your measurements.
DS: I started armwrestling by chance. Before that I did scuba diving, but I saw there was an armwrestling club, so I decided to try. I caught the bug and here I am, with 9 years under my belt. As for my parameters: I’m 185 cm tall and I weigh 130 kg.
NG: Tell us about your training. What weights do you lift? What’s your favorite exercise? What do you focus on the most?
DS: I focus on working on my wrist, my favorite exercise is the pronator, when I fight I try to apply only static weights.
NG: PAL has become interested in you and your career. Igor Mazurenko said that he’d like to see you fight at Zloty Tur. The goal would be to fight the Americans, in order to choose a Vendetta opponent for you. Are you going to the Cup and will you fight?
DS: My fight at Zloty Tur has been discussed with my sponsor. Yes, I will fight. I am positive about this, a sportsman’s success is all about what he does, his goals and actions.
NG: Tell me about your plans. Do you want to be number one among young heavyweights?
DS: While I’s still young, I want to fight in tournaments as often as possible, to prove myself. I think it is every sportsman’s dream to get to the top.
NG: Do you think Pushkar is the best right now, in both arms?
DS: I think he is the leader in both arms, yes. He beat everyone easily at the last tournament. We have many fights and tournaments ahead of us and I think he will prove he is number one many times.
NG: How did you react to the information that Alexey Voevoda is coming back to armwrestling? Do you think he has a chance to get back to the top?
DS: I can’t say anything about that, because I never spoke to him, he left when I was just beginning. Seeing as he’s a hard-working and experienced guy, there should be no questions about his preparations for the upcoming fight. I think he will succeed.
