The press conference for the two biggest armwrestlling events this year - Złoty Tur Professional Armwrestling World Cup and Armwrestling World Cup for Deaf & Disabled – has just ended. Both events are to take place in Rumia.
Those are one of the key armwrestling events of the year – said Igor Mazurenko, president of Mazurenko Armwrestling Promotion, at the press conference that took place at the Champions Sports Bar & Restaurant in Warsaw. - Zloty Tur is not an open tournament, rather an event for chosen people, best fighters in the world. It is a stepping stone to the higher ranks of the sport, to the pro world. It's a gateway to pro fights, armfights and other prestigious events of the armwrestling world. As for the Armwrestling World Cup for Deaf & Disabled, this is also a high-level event, only aimed at the disabled people. There is no separate tournament for the disabled in the whole world. These people also want to fight at Zloty Tur levels.
The eyes of the armwrestling world will turn to Rumia this time. Złoty Tur Professional Armwrestling World Cup is the most recognized armwrestling event in the world. By special invitation from organizers, almost 200 strongest people from over 25 countries will arrive in Poland, including Africa, North and South America, Australia, Europe or Asia. There will also be contestants from Poland.
This year's World Cup is very important to me – says Marlena Wawrzyniak, the strongest Polish woman for a couple of years running. - In 2012, at the Nemiroff World Cup, i was the first Polish woman to win gold, beating the Russian Yekaterina Larina in the finals. In 2013 I was injured and didn't fight, next year after that there was no World Cup, so this one is going to be special for me. It would be my rehabilitation for my failure at the Worlds in Malaysia. I hope that I can mentally overcome the pain and triumphthis year, as I did in 2012.
Also Mariusz Grochowski was present at the conference, top Polish armwrestler, with 11 national titles, 9 Polish Cup gold medals, a winner of Polish Armwrestling League, international medalist, including bronze at the Arnold Classic Armwrestling Challenge.
This will be my seventh Professional Armwrestling World Cup – says Grochowski. - I try to be versatile, as I never know who my opponents will be. It all depends on the draw. I always aim for the podium, but things happen. My last Worlds have shown me the strongest group of people in history, so much so that there was not enough place on the podium to fit them all, not even close. If the Professional World Cup draws the same amount of competition, anything might happen.
Many other great wrestlers will come to the Złoty Tur Professional Armwrestling World Cup, hungry for victory. Some of those who confirmed their starts are Richard Lupkes (USA), Tim Bresnan (USA), Krasimir Kostadinov (Bulgaria), and other top fighters of the world.
Also the Armwrestling World Cup for Deaf & Disabled – Rumia 2015 is one of the biggest armwrestling events for the disabled. Over a 100 best disabled sportspeople from 5 continents will take place in this event. It will take place right after the Złoty Tur Professional Armwrestling World Cup, and is co-financed by various organizations, e.g. the “For Dream” foundation.
The foundation's goal is to break stereotypes and integrate the healthy and the disabled – says Aleksander Koy and Dariusz Rybarczyk, Directors of „For Dream".- That's why we are so enthusiastic about both projects, the Professionals' World Cup and Armwrestling World Cup for Deaf & Disabled, which meet the foundation's goals perfectly. We are glad and honored that the WAF has entrusted us the role of co-organizers of such fine sport events.
The cup for the disabled will take place in standing and seated positions, in categories: deaf, blind and movement-impaired.
Armwrestling World Cup for Deaf & Disabled will take place in the MOSIR sports hall, Mickiewicza 49 in Rumia, 23-24 November 2015. First day starts at 9:00, second at 10:00. Admittance free.
Event co-financed by: PFRON, Rumia City, FAP, For Dream Foundation Dariusz Rybarczyk, Aleksander Koy.
