Today there was the Congress of the World Armwrestling Federation, where the Board and the members of the federation discussed many current issues relating to the work of this organization.

 The Congress was attended by representatives of 37 members of World Armwrestling Federation, which considered the agenda of 10 questions. It included confirmation of the results and reports of activities in 2015, the adoption of new members of the federation, the election of the president and the board of the federation, elections of host-countries for future world championships.

During the 2015-2016 year for membership in the World Armwrestling Federation nine countries filed documents: Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Nepal, Ghana, Costa Rica, Mauritania and Libya. Due to the fact that six countries have not provided the necessary package of papers, only three countries were adopted in WAF: Lebanon, Ghana and Costa Rica.

Important issues that determine the direction of the entire Federation development, was the election of the President and members of the board.

Only one candidate ran for thepost of WAF President - the incumbent president, the representative of Bulgaria Assen Hadzhitodorov. The representative of Romania Mircea Simionescu-Simichel re-become the General Secretary.

If previous voting was easy, Head Referee elections was a real show of the Congress. In the category – the candidate of the USA Leonard Harkless and a candidate from the UK David Shead. By secret ballot, it was announced that the next four years the Head of the Referee would be Leonard Harkless.

Jean-Frederic Andre, head of the WAF Doping Committee, told about the changes in the work of the agency in relation to armwrestling. The important news is that now the doping tests for athletes will be held in the off-season. At this championship, everybody will take doping tests: youth, juniors, seniors, veterans and athletes with disabilities. Total - 70 tests.

In 2017 Hungary will host the World Championship. Members of Congress unanimously voted that the 2018 championship would go to Turkey (Antalya), in 2019 - in Poland, and in 2020 - in Romania.
