Senior women 50 kg
The current champion on the left hand: Snezhana Babaeva (Slovakia)
The current champion on the right hand: Snezhana Babaeva (Slovakia)
At the 2016 World Championship in Bulgaria, Snezhana Babaeva confirmed her highest level and took two gold medals. At the European Championships in 2017 Snejana did not pull, like another favorite of this category Esra Kiraz from Turkey. In their absence, the titles of champions were divided by athletes from Russia and Ukraine. At the upcoming championship we consider Snejana and Esra the main contenders for gold. On the side of Snezana there are experience and skill, on the side of Esra - youth and motivation, so the fight will be interesting.
Senior women 55 kg
The current champion on the left hand: Alina Volkova (Russia)
The current champion on the right hand: Dimitrina Dimitrova (Bulgaria)
In this category for several years there are some obvious favorites, at the European championships – Alina Volkova, Victoria Ilyushina and Dimitrina Dimitrova; Chris de Souza is added for the world championships. In the struggle on the left hand every year Alina Volkova is getting better, she found a way to fight and win the main rival - Victoria Ilyushina from Ukraine. We will put Alina above the rest and on the victory left hand. On the right hand the competition is more serious, at the Worlds-2016 Chris de Souza pulled very well and took the silver. But most of all we were surprised by the progress of Dimitrina Dimitrva, who then easily defeated all rivals, and it seemed that she would stay in the first place for a long time, however at the European Championships in 2017 Alina found a way to defeat the Bulgarian athlete. Most likely, the fight for gold will again flare up between Alina and Dimitrina.
Senior women 60 kg
The current champion on the left hand: Ekaterina Afonina (Russia)
The current champion on the right hand: Irina Driaeva (Georgia)
Irina Driaeva most likely will not defend her title of champion, at the European Championships she pulled in another weight class - up to 65 kg. Therefore, as the main favorite for both hands we see Ekaterina Afonina from Russia, which at the European Championships in 2017 showed a very good form and made a gold double. Also in this category Yekaterina Lyakhova and Ksenia Zoryankina are likely to pull, and these girls are progressing with every year and they are approaching the prize places among seniors.
Senior women 65 kg
The current champion on the left hand: Olga Shlizhevskaya (Kazakhstan)
The current champion on the right hand: Fia Risek (Sweden)
In this weight category, the favorites are likely to remain the champions. Irina Gladkaya, who also performed well, after the last Worlds noticed that she would take a break and rest from performances. But in this category Irina Driaeva will pull, who has already tried her hand at this category and it was quite successfully - two gold of European Championship. It will be interesting how she will show herself with the new rivals and how she will be able to repeat her success.
Senior women 70 kg
The current champion on the left hand: Gabriela Vasconcelos (Brazil)
The current champion on the right hand: Gabriela Vasconcelos (Brazil)
It is difficult to imagine who can defeat Gabriela Vasconcelos in the category of up to 70 kg. She has been on top for a long time and always shows an excellent form, leaving no chance for her rivals. The most competitive rival is Brigita Ivánfi from Hungary, but the chance that Gabriela will again take two golds is very high.
Senior women 80 kg
The current champion on the left hand: Evgenia Fomina (Russia)
The current champion on the right hand: Irina Makeeva (Russia)
In this category the situation is similar to 70 kg, Irina Makeeva dominates in this category for a long time. It is difficult to guess who will be able to make Irina a real competition in the category. If Gabriela decided to move to the category of Irina or vice versa, then it would be an interesting and competitive duel, but for now these girls are out of reach for their rivals.
Senior women +80 kg
The current champion on the left hand: Antonina Lissyanskaya (Kazakhstan)
The current champion on the right hand: Egle Vaitkute (Lithuania)
In the category over 80 kg, the situation with a leader was clear before the last Worlds. For a long time Egle Vaitkute without any problems won all the championships. But in the last championship the myth about the invincibility of Egle was dispelled by Antonina Lissianskaya, who twice defeated Egle and became the champion. At this championship, Antonina will pull on both hands, so we can see the competition.
