In 2019, at the IFA World Championships in Poland (Rumia), he won a gold medal in seniors, 78 kg category, for left arm. He beat a total 21 athletes.

Robert Rodin believes that this is his greatest sports achievement to this date. It's time for you to meet the Swedish athlete and his club, Club Brynäs Armwrestling.

PeSzy: Let's start with a banal question: how long have you been in armwrestling? What do you do outside of this sport?

Robert: I've been in this sport for 7 years. My club is Brynäs Armwrestling. I work as a truckdriver delivering cars in Sweden from Monday to Thursday and sleep in the truck. I love cars, motorcycles and rallies. I’m a real motorsport freak, I like to stay in the garage and work with my cars and motorcycles. I have 2 small boys and a girlfriend, we live in the countryside.

PeSzy: Tell me more about your club.

Robert: Club: Brynäs Armwrestling Started in 2003; There are 38 members and the President is Magnus Lundgren (current Grand Master World Champion). Every member of the club is a coach, we help each other.

PeSzy: What about your and other club members biggest sports success?

Robert: My greatest sport success is the title of IFA World Champion 2019 in 78 kg. Some of my clubmates are Swedish Champions and some are World, European and Nordic Champions. When the Swedish Championshis are held, every gold and silver medalist qualifies to the Swedish national team but now that we are in IFA, all Swedes that are in an Armwrestling club get an opertunity to be on the Swedish team. No qualifiers are required.

PeSzy: Why armwrestling?

Robert: I love Armwrestling! I love the community and the friendship. I trained boxing and regular wrestling before. I love the fights at the table more, especially when it’s a close one.

A few more words from the president of the Federation ...

Anders Axklo: Hi! Yes, Rodin is an amazing armwrestler, and one of Sweden’s absolute best light/middle weights. Brynäs is one of Sweden's lifestyle clubs, and they have a great legacy.
