Colorful march through the city is clearly associated with the opening of the Olympic Games!

It’s May 7, 2013 Tuesday, the second day of competition. Most of the teams and all the referees have already arrived. It’s about 8 p.m., it is still bright when a colorful parade with national flags departs from the hotel, passes the town’s main promenade, and heads towards the site of the grand opening. There were nearly five hundred people, divided of course into the national teams, but all united in the passion for our sport. You could notice smiling and a bit nervous juniors, as well as “men in their fifties”, that is masters. As we walked we aroused the enthusiasm of locals and tourists. To be honest, two thoughts have crossed my mind. The first is that we have here “Europe in a nutshell”.

What I mean is that the best of the best have met here and although they will be competing against each other, they are still friends. You can see people from various teams mixing with one another.

Does our sport really bring us together?

I think so! If there’s something that we have in common it is certainly sport.

I wouldn’t smile at a politician from a foreign country, I’d rather turn my back on him. Yet, if it was an athlete – I would certainly smile at him, and so would he. Forgive me such sentimental considerations.

My second thought was connected with our colorful and joyful parade. You know what I mean? Olympic Games and the opening ceremony. Maybe one day ... Maybe some of the youngest athletes taking part in our parade, will compete in Olympic Games?
