The biggest world Armwrestling even Has Just ended. It is past 31^st World Championships. We have come back to Poland with 4 world medals. Michalina Romanska from UKS 16 Koszalin won in junior up to 45kg category 2 brown medals for left and right hand. Natan Kajdas from MCKiS Tytan Jaworzno after very fierce elimination fights in up to 80kg category won the silver medal for right hand. It was obvious that he hoped for the gold medal, unfortunately he did not manage Bulgarian armwrestler - Aliaksandrem Laban at the final fight. Last medal was won by the senior. Slawomir Glowacki from Inowroclaw after the elimination of such world stars as Tim Bresnan from USA, Martin Dodov from Bulgaria, Ibrgim Ibragimov from Russia and many other titled competitors won the brown medal in the super heavy +110kg right hand category.

An organizer of this year’s World Championships was the Italian Armwrestling representation. The Venice region was the place of the struggles (the sports hall was in the city of  Porto Viro whereas  the verification, weighting and accommodation place was the littoral city of Rosolina). Almost 700 of the best armwrestlers from 49 countries came to Italy on 7th to 13th of September 2009. And the sports level was simply worldly. Additionally well-casted weight categories (sometimes even 40 representatives in a category) among which out team turned to be quite good.

During this year’s World Championships many Polish competitors flexed their muscles. However only three of our representatives managed to win medals but the rest of the team: juniors, masters, grand masters, seniors and disabled did not fall behind the other competitors. Maybe they lacked of experience or luck. There is no need to hide that 31st World Championships were one of the hardest competitors of late.

To summerise the starts lists of each weight category, where there were not any of European and World Championships medalists missing, we must recon the start of Polish Armwrestling Team was really successful. Among many titled and registered competitors 4 medals and the place in the first ten of all of the Polish contestants are praiseworthy. May it always be so! We will see how our representatives would prepare for the next year’s championships in Las Vegas. The rivalry will be for sure huge. But we – the Polish armwrestlers have been the part of world armwrestling lead for ages. We need to draw conclusions from the starts and be better prepared. Then the success is sure. Who knows, maybe next year we will finally hear the longed for “Mazurek Dabrowskiego”. That is what we wish for you and us. But this time we want to congratulate the whole team. You have turned up trumps! You have been “perfecto”!
