Redaction of Armpower asked Denis Cyplenkov a trainee to say something about the international tournament Złoty Tur Cup. Below we show you cogitations of Kote Razmadze from Russia.
I Got to know about the tournament from  Alexey Voevoda in 2000 for the first time. After I came back from the World Championships in Finland Alexey told me that Igor Mazurenko from Poland invites him to Złoty Tur Cup. Frankly speaking I did not take that tournament seriously at that time. I did not even suspect that in time Złoty Tur Cup will become the most prestige tournament in the world.

While considering this tournament we may say that is shows us the current history of European Armwrestling. The duels of the tournament have for sure secured their place in history of world armwrestling since 2001. It is worth to pay attention to the duel of Cetan Gaschevski from Bulgaria and Alexey Voevoda. In this duel 78 kg Cvetan beat much heavier Alexey. Then the Russian summarized the duel in one sentence:
„After I was beaten by  Cvetan Gashevski in 2001 I have never approached the duels with the competitors of lighter categories rashly”. 

In 2001 the winner of Open category was Jan Germanus from Slovakia. In next three years the winner was Alexey Voevoda. From 2003 Złoty Tur Cup was organized in Gdynia, then it moved to the capital of Poland – Warsaw.

In 2004 the organizers of the tournament gained a serious sponsor which was Nemiroff vodka. Since that year the tournament has been called “Nemiroff World Cup”. Thanks to the sponsor’s bailout which was gained by the organizer - Igorowi Mazurenko the tournament the guru of world Armwrestling, legendary champion of all-time - John Brzenk from the USA. In 2004 John came to Poland for the first time and lost with Alexey Voevoda. In my opinion this was not the most important. The important thing is that thanks to Nemiroff World Cup John comes to Warsaw annually and gives the European armwrestlers hope to tackle with his strength. During last years  John was the winner of open right hand category for three times.

 In the history of Nemiroff World Cup there are the duels of mostly all of the strongest armwrestlers of the world. With the help of the tournament a lot of the armwrestlers from behind the ocean get to know the name of the Russian Strong Man and armwrestler Denis Cyplenkov.

In 2008 before the beginning of Nemiroff World Cup lovers of Armwrestling speculated that one man could become the winner of two main cups, so the winner of open left and right hand categories. A bigger part of audience staked on Cyplenkov. Denis firmy won the open left hand category but for left hand John Brzenk did not give Any odds and beat the Russian twice in a cup-final.

Only two of the competitors have managed to win the open category for three times for nine years of the tournament. It is spoken about Voevoda and legendary Brzenk. We all know that Alexey Voevoda was conscripted to the Russian Olympic Bobsleigh Team and will be the participant of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada 2010. That is the only reason why we would not see Voevoda at Nemiroff World Cup 2009. This way John Brzenk will have a prayer to set a record at this year’s Nemiroff World Cup and win for the fourth time in a row.

Voevoda for sure as Brzenk secured their place in history of Złoty Tur Cup. Anyway the same as in case of other winners of open right hand category: Grygory Bondaruk, Jan Germanus, Travis Bagent and left hand category : Andrey Pushkar i Denis Cyplenkov.

Will John be able to win for the tenth time in turn, the jubilee Złoty Tur Cup on 7th and 8th of November 2009? This time the following competitors: Andrey Pushkar, Denis Cyplenkov, Dimitriy Kochiev will fight with John Brzenk. I do not know if Arsen Lilijev confirmed his participation, but even if he does not come, there will be other titled competitors as: Taras Ivakin, Ion Oncesku, Genadi Kvitvinia (Georgia) and others in John Brzenk’s category, who will fight with John in the direct rivalry on equal terms.

A question comes to my mind: will Rustam Babayev from Ukraine fight at this year’s Nemiroff World Cup in open category? Everyone is waiting for this event for sure. Of the curiosities I will tell you that
Roman Tsindeliani  is spoiling for start at open category. As we know the regulations of Nemiroff World Cup state that only the competitors up to 86kg may start. Will Igor Mazurenko compromise and let Roman fight at open category at the same time embarrass and motivate Rustam to start?

10th Złoty Tur Cup will be the one of most interesting sports events in the world without any doubts. I advise all the lovers of Armwrestling – do not miss it.
