Almost 150 competitors from 17 cities of Poland, a very high sports level, amazing fights of junior, senior, master and disabled classes of left and right hand, proper stage setting, Grzegorz Nowak from Gdynia and Marlena Wawrzyniak from Grudziądz the strongest Poles of right hand for the second time and Dariusz Muszczak from Myszków and Małgorzata Ostrowska from Strzegom the strongest of left hand – that is how we can shortly describe this year’s tenth jubilee Polish Armwrestling Cup - Fit Max Cup 2009, which took place in the Andrzeja Grubba spots-event hall in Starogard Gdański on the 27th and 28th of November 2009.

The city of  Starogard Gdański was the organizer of the struggles of the best world armwrestlers for the seventh time. However only Polish competitors having the Polish Armwrestling Federation Licence could take part at annual Polish Cup but they were the sportsmen of as well Polish as world armwrestling lead. Many of the competitors starting in Strogard Gdański are the medallists of the European, World Championships, World Professional Cup and other international tournaments. The sports level of competitions in Starogard was extremly high.

“It is blindingly obvious that the level of Polish competitors has really increased. That is not the same level as it was before while previous Polish Cups” – told us Igor Mazurenko the President of FAP .

“All of the competitors, as well the ones of junior, senior and masters class as disables present a better form, which translated to national and international starts from year to year. While watching the particular duels at this year’s Polish Cup in Starogad Gdański I may say that almost all the competitors are the Armwrestling lead. With such a Polish team we can easily compete abroad” – continued Igor Mazurenko.

On the 27th of November (Friday) we bear the witnesses to the right hand rivalry in junior men and women, senior men and women, disabled, masters (the competitors over 40 years old) and grand masters (over 50 years old). Whereas on the next day (Saturday, the 28th of November) we could see competitors in the same weight classes in the left had rivalry. The host of the competitions – the Sports and Recreation Centre in Starogard Gdański with the Mazurenko Armwrestling Promotion company from Gdynia were organizers. The event was held under the patronage of City Council and Starogard Gdański Country District.

There is no point in hiding that starts of all of the competitors were really impressing. We could see that Polish armwrestlers were reliably prepared for this year’s cup rivalry. Each competitor deserves congratulations. Of course medallists of particular classes deserve more. They are the ones who are the best part Polish Armwrestling Lead.

Good starts of particular competitors made the team classification look as follows: the first place – MCKiS Tytan club from Jaworzno(11 gold, 8 silver and 5 brown medals), the second place - Złoty Tur from Gdynia (8 gold, 3 silver and 5 brown medals), the third place -  Złoty Orzeł club from Choszczno (5 gold, 4 silver and 5 brown medals). Congratulations!

When the opportunity occurs I would like to thank all of the competitors for showing so high sports skills, gathered audience for active following during the tournaments and sponsors, local activists, city and region stewards and co organizers for the support while the organizing of the 10th Polish Cup in the name of the Polish Armwrestling Federation. Without all of you such a prestige event as the annual Polish Cup would not come into being. So once more thank you very much.
