On the 1st to the 7th of June 2010 in the capital of Russia – Moscow in Poviedniki (Moscow Region) the XX European Armwrestling Championships will take place. Almost 400 competitors from over 20 European countries as: Belarus, Turkey, Ukraine, Poland, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Sweeden, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Romaniam Finland, the Check Republic, England, Switzerland, Germany Croatia, Greece and of course the hosts – Russia have already announced their arrival.
The largest amount of the competitors will represent the hosts. The representation of Russia will consist of 133 competitors. Poland will be represented by 26 competitors of National Team selected during the X Polish Championships which took place at the beginning of April 2010 in Gdynia.
On the first (2nd of June – left hand) and the second (the 3rd of June – right hand) day of the Championships juniors, masters (competitors over 40 years old), grand masters (competitors over 50 years old) and the disabled rivalry will take place. While on the third (the 4th of June – left hand) and fourth day (the 5th of June – right hand) we will be witnesses of seniors rivalry.
We hope the Polish National Team to repeat the last year success, when they brought 17 European medals from the Bulgarian capital – Sofia in June 2009.
“This year’s trip to the XX European Championships – Moscow 2010 is a mystery for our National Team. As usually the rivalry will be taught for sure. We hope for European medals. Our hope is the strongest Pole of 2008 and 2009, the winner of the medal at the last year World Professional Cup – Grzegorz Nowak (Zloty Tur Gdynia). We hope him to be in the medal zone of up to 110kg class. We also count on medals for Sławomir Glowacki (Zloty Niedzwiedz Bydgoszcz) In super heavy class. We remind you that Slawek has already surprised us many times at previous starts bringing European and world medals. Also Maciej Gralak (Zloty Niedzwiedz Bydgoszcz) can do quite well in disabled class as he as well as Slawek has already came back with medals from the European arena. Since last year the Polish National Team after a few years break has been reinforced by the President of the Polish Armwrestling Federation – Igor Mazurenko (Zloty Tur Gdynia). From the last year’s European Championships in Bulgaria he came back with two brown medals of masters class (competitors over 40 years old). We hope him to repeat or even improve the result at this year’s European Championships" – said the manager of the Polish National Team - Paweł Podlewski.
