The heat of the sun, record amount of competitors, the last sweat soaked from tensing muscles, hot doping and unforgettable impression. That’s how the 3rd Śrem District Open Armwrestling Championships, that took place on the 4th June at the beach by Grzymusławskie Lake in Śrem organized by County District in Śrem, with a view that not only professionals but also amateurs of this sports discipline could try their hand in at armwrestling, can be summed up.

The official opening of the event was made by a Chairwoman of the District Board Gabriela Wasielewska, wishing good luck to all the competitors. And there were 75 of them, so much more than in previous editions. Some of them have chalked up titles of the Polish Champions of various classes and they sometimes tramped even several hundred kilometers to take part in Śrem event. The whole tournaments were ably derived by: Mariusz Grochowski, Tomasz Szewczyk and Dariusz Muszczak on the Polish Armwrestling Federation behalf.

Foretaste of the emotions that were expected not only by the ones willing to join the struggles but also audience, was a symbolic duel of professionals. The ones asked to take part in it were Mirosław Hertmanowski and Wiesław Rzanny – men that have already chalked up many professional successes in weight classes (the first one – 95kg, the second one – 86kg) measured themselves against each other for left hand. Wiesław Rzanny turned to be the better beating his opponent 2:1.

The most numerous class that fought as the first one was Children Open – there were 19 competitors eager to take part in the class. Here girls turned to be  more courageous. All the children were rewarded with among others gimmickries of Śrem District.

In men classes: up to 63 kg there were 10 competitors, up to 70 kg – 5, up to 78 kg – 8, up to 86 kg – 7, up to 95 kg – 6 over 95 kg – 10. Also amateur women did not lack courage. As there were 8 representatives of the fair sex fighting in Women Open class.

In Men Open class competitors that measured themselves against each other were the ones that registered in other classes and delegated by referees Mariusz Grochowski who won the title of the Polish Championeight times on the trot in different weight classes.

Emotions were burgeoning as the weight classes were increasing. And their apogee was the Men Open class, where competitors of different weight classes and age fought traditionally without T-shirts. Doubtlessly the attraction was women show – mainly amateurs. However mainly a great fun accompanied the sports rivalry.

It also did not do without some hurts but the competitors could count on skilled medical care of Arkadiusz Rodziak.

Every winner gained the awards founded by the County District in Śrem (among others: mp4, pendrives, T-shirts, cubs and mascots) sponsors and co-organizers. In Men Open class there were inter alia multifunctional printer and “magic box” with wine and glasses (from Waldemar Hołderny “Pizzeria Tropicana”). The best women got also a Cup founded by the co-organizer of the event which is Śremski Sport company, and the strongest men of over 95kg class -additionally 8-digits pendant for photos(founded by Waldemar Hołderny “Pizzeria Tropicana”).

Sports emotions were crowned by the music trip In reggae rythms so the koncert performed by ZaZuZi from Jarocin. The whole event took place under the media patronage of: Poznań Television, Merkury Radio, “Relax” Cabel Television in Śrem, Śremski Weekly, the Week of Śremska Land, Śremski Courier and Śremska Internet Television TV.srem.pl.
