The Champions in Ciechocinek # Armwrestling # Armpower.net

()

On Saturday (the 10th of July 2010) in a S&RC sports hall in Ciechocinek the first Kujavia Land Open Armwrestling Championships – Ciechocinek 2010 took place. A host of the event was the new armwrestling club Strength Sports and Body Building Association Armwrestling Ciechocinek Team with Bartłomiej Janiszewski on vanguard.

From morning, and more precisely from 10.00 o’clock the first competitors willing to take part in the tournaments began coming to the almost new sports hall (the hall in Ciechocinek was built 3 years ago). All told till 2:00 p.m. almost 60 armwtrestlers applied. As for the first time of organization of this kind of championships the attendance was greater than expected. By the way holidays are the time when you can tear yourself away from everyday life and go to the summer armwrestling rivalry. And when it comes to sparring with the best, polish competitors (as it was in Ciechocinek) and possible win in particular classes the satisfaction of each competitor increases.

As to competitions themselves I can just say – uncommon heat nagging everyone did not disturb the competitors to see their way. Everyone with no exceptions went all out. The favorites of particular weight classes – and there were 8 of them for right hand (children and women: open, men: up to 65kg, , 75kg, 85kg, 95kg, +95kg and OPEN) and 5 for left hand (women open, men: 70kg, 85kg, 95kg, OPEN) were experienced competitors of the polish armwrestling stage. And by turns.

Children class. For some time we have observed the increasing interest in armwrestling among the youngest group of sportsmen. And that is how it was during the first championships in Ciechocinek. Three almost 12 years old girls firstly applied for women open class as the result of the organizers request fought in separate class. Here the organizer’s daughter - Oliwia Janiszewska defended the honor. Oliwia without any problems managed to beat a bit younger opponents and won the gold medal of right hand ( the 2nd place - Kovtsunyak Nadiya, the 3rd place - Yavdoshnyak Adriana).

Women classes. The competitors from Grudziądz excelled in as well for right hand as for left one of the only women class - open. As usually the unbeaten for right hand was the Strongest Pole - Marlena Wawrzyniak ( did not star for left hand). It was blindingly obvious that her sports level is extremely high in proportion to other competitors of the Polish armwrestling stage. Marlena’s student - Marta Opalińska also did really well. She fought off some really good and stiff duels, where she showed not only Her strength but also gained and trained skills which are unattainable for beginning armwrestler (Marta rakned 1st for left hand and 2nd for right hand, giving in only her trainer). Also  another competitors form Grudziądz – Milena Morczyńska deserves recognition. Although Milena has a bit shorter training probation than her friends from the club, the rivalry in Ciechocinek showed that the competitor from Grudziądz gets along quite well (the 2nd place for left hand and 3rd place for right hand). Congratulations.

Men class. In the lowest men weight class (up to 65kg for right hand and up to 70kg for left hand) just one competitor -  Maciej Gralak from Bydgoszcz excelled. Maciej who normally starts in the disabled class he also comes into his own in standing rivalry (comperitors of the disabled class are wrestling sitting). As a real fighter he came back home with 2 gold medals. Congratulations!

While focusing on lower classes it is worth to pay attention to Łukasz Głowacki form Inowrocław. As a son of the World Vice Champion – Sławomir Głowacki – Łukasz turned up trumps – and got a silver medal (up to 70kg left hand class). For right hand of up to 75kg class Łukasz ranked 5th.

Talking of 75kg class two competitors:  Sławomir Malasa from Grudziądz and Maciej Stelmaszyk from Bydgoszcz should or even must be mentioned.

Sławek over other experienced competitors is a beginning armwrestler. But believe me, that sportsmen will soon be a part of the Polish lead of the lower weight classes (Sławek for right hand: in up to 75kg class was 2nd, 5th in open class; whereas for left hand: in up to 85kg class was 4th and 7th in open class). As to Maciek I can only say – as usually in a very good form he came back home with two medals: the silver one for left hand (up to 85kg class) and the gold one for right hand (up to 75kg class).

Apart from Maciek in up to 85kg class Piotr Bartosiewicz from Choszczno (1st for right hand) and his club mate – Bartosz Jakubowski (1sr for left hand and 3rd for right hand) did extremely well. Also Daniel Szymkiewicz from Gdynia had a very good day. In up to 85kg class Daniel won two medals, Kujavia medals (the brown for left hand and the silver for right hand). Daniel added one more – brown medal of left hand open class to his medal pool. He also did quite well in right hand open class, hanging about the podium and finally ranking 4th.  By the way I know this competitor for quite a long time and I may say that these were the best tournaments he could have taken part in. I as well as other competitors were really surprised by his form.

In up to 95kg class two names passed the podium of left and right hand: Zawadzki Adam from Wałbrzych and Obłuski Łukasz from Gdynia. Both competitors divided equally with gold and brown medals. Adam was better for left hand whereas Łukasz for right hand. Competitors from Bydgoszcz: Michał Chmielewski for left hand and Grzegorz Lasota for right hand ranked second.

According to the regulations of the competitions over 95kg class took place only for right hand (for left hand the competitors of super heavy class had to content themselves with open class). Here experienced competitors of Polish armwrestling stage exceeded . Finally Bartosz Raczyński from Choszczno ranked first. Second was Marcin Furman from Gdynia. Whereas a mster - Stanisław Gralak from Bydgoszcz ranked third.

Open class, so the emergence of the best armwrestler in Ciechocinek of the year 2010. Bartosz Raczyński turned to be him for left hand (the 2nd Marcin Furman, the 3rd Daniel Szymkiewicz from Gdynia). Whereas for right hand the medalist of Professionals’ World Cup, multiple Polish Champion and the winner of national and international tournaments - Piotr Bartosiewicz from Choszczno (the 2nd Łukasz Obłuski from Gdynia, the 3rd Jakubowski Bartosz from Choszczno). As well Bartosz Raczyński as Piotr Bartosiewicz did not give their rivals any chances to win a gold medal. Their form at the competitions in Ciechocinek was unachievable for other competitors. Congratulations for as well them as the rest of the starting competitors.

All of the starting competitors received medals, diplomas and material awards founded by the organizer  and sponsors. As the organizer - Bartosz Janiszewski said at the end of the tournamnets: “there were some organizational defects, but we are still a crawling club and we are still learning from scratch as well in the line of organization as training. We have drawn conclusions and at the next tournaments it will for sure be much better”.

At the end of the competitions we had the possibility to see the competitors of the international format. The Champion of Poland and medalists of many international tournaments - Artur Głowiński from Choszczno fought with the World Vice Champion – Sławomir Głowacki from Inowrocław  in six rounds show duel for right hand over 95kg class. After six very stiff rounds the final result was 3:3. Do they have to meet once more at the professional ring to prove who is better? One thing is sure – as we suspected they showed us an Armwrestling on a high, professional level. That is what we would like to thank them for.
